There are several possibilities:-

!. The Master Boot Record may be corrupt. Insert the Windows recovery disk and select repair. For more advice consult the local expert.

2. The hard drive has died on you. Get a new one

3. Incorrect bios settings.

4. You have installed another drive and they are both trying to be either master or slave. If this is the case change the jumpers so that one is master and the other is slave.

5. The BIOS is faulty. Only two options here, Flash the BIOS from the floppy drive, or replace the mother board. Must supply exact mother board name because every time a new one comes out it has a different BIOS. My BIOS failed and made it necessary to replace the mother board.

About disk boot failure

Hi!

Disk boot failure means that your BIOS can't find the master boot record of your computer which resides in the hard disk or a floppy disk.

This indication means that your hard disk drive is not detected by your BIOS or their is no operating system installed with it.

Have a nice day!

UPDATING BIOS... DISK BOOT FAILURE INSERT SYSTEM DISK

This happens because the boot process fails: either because in the boot order the floppy isn't mentioned (put it first) or the bootdisk isn't good.
BTW you should update the BIOS only if you have problems, like a new processor not being recognized.

You are seeing a failure to read your hard drive.
Now you need to troubleshoot that. Your hard drive could have gone bad or you can boot from a system disk (that would be a Windows system disk) and run chkdsk.

If you need help doing that, just ask. I'd be glad to help you further.

Boot failure asus a7v 133 motherboard installed a pci sata raid

Hi whistler1410, you need to enter your bios menu. Press the delete key every couple of seconds to load the bios menu.

Once in the bios (See instructions located at the bottom of the menu, to help you move about).
You should see all connected drives at the main menu.
This includes the SATA writer & hard disk drives.
Go to the bios menu, BOOT.
SATA drive even DVD drives are seen by the bios as a master drive. So within the BOOT menu go to "Boot device priority".
The boot priority should read as follows.

First boot device [Floppy disk drive] (If one is connected)
Second boot device [Your SATA DVD writer]
Third boot device [Your primary hard disk drive] (The drive with windows loaded on it).
If you do not have a floppy disk drive than make the first boot device your DVD writer.
Save the bios & exit the bios. You should not receive "boot disk error message anymore".

Run into a problem, post here.
Good luck whistler1410!

Boot failure

Try booting from a dos boot disk or windows startup disk, this will prove that HW is OK

then if it boots OK you may have a HDD problem.
