SOURCE: latitude longitude

Create and save a waypoint for any location then update that waypoint with the lat/long you were given (just click on the lat/long and key in the new coordinates).

SOURCE: my garmin 760 suddenly lost it's data and

Its possible that the data is corrupt.
One possible fix is to perform a hard reset on the unit.
Turn off Garmin device. Press down on bottom right corner of the touchscreen, and then power on the GPS unit. You should be prompted whether do you really want to erase all user data, or asked if do you really want to start up in maintenance mode. Press “Yes” to reset (warning: all data will be erased and lost, so backup before proceeding) or enter maintenance mode.
Once the device has been hard reset, you will have to perform the set up procedure again upon start up.
Once the unit is has been reset, remember to place the device outside where there is a clear unobstructed view of the sky for 15 – 30 minutes in order for it to fix to GPS satellites.

Not a gurantee, but its worth a shot.

I have a Garmin 250W. Is it possible to search and target a location by latitude and longitude rather than post code in France

Hello,

You can definitely route using co-ordinates, this search option can found under "Where To?" it may be located a couple of pages down so go through the pages to see "Co-Ordinates" from here you would be able to enter your latitude and longitude.

Hope this helps!

Does aby know if my Garmin 1310 can use OS grd references instead of longditute and latitude? If so how is it set up?

Unfortunately Garmin satnavs do not allow OS Grid References instead of Longitude and Latitude. However if you need to find the Longitude and Latitude of a point it can be done by going to http://www.gorissen.info/Pierre/maps/googleMapLocationv3.php Zoom in on the location you want and left click on it. The longitude and latitude will appear in a box to the right of the map. You need to set the co-ordinate system of the satnav to match the longitude and latitude format of the satnav. To do this touch Where to, Co-Ordinates, Format. Enter the co-ordinates and touch next. It's not an ideal solution but it might help you out if you're stuck.

Latitude & longitude

Here is the way to find the Lat/Lon Info on TomTom.
Tap on main screen. You will be taken to Main menu 1 of 2. Tap on the arrow. You will move to Main menu 2 of 2. Tap on Browse map. You will see the lat/Lon info on the bottom left hand corner (of a selected location) Tap on another location and you will see that the lat/Lon will change to that of the newly selected location. You can use the slider on the right hand side to zoom in or zoom out so that you can get the Lat/Lon info of far off locations. However, for this purpose, google maps would be a better option. But if you know the address, use the find button which will give you easier access to Lat/Lon info.

Can my TomTom XXL 540-S be used with GPS coordinates?

If you are referring to Latitude and Longitude , yes. You can use those co-ordinates to navigate to a destination. This especially works fine in countries where the Avenue and street information is not available. Google maps can give you the latitude and longitude coordinates. You can fed those into the GPS and navigate. Please note, you will need the maps of the region involved. Click (Tap) on the main screen. Tap on: navigate to Tap on : arrow Tap on: Latitude longitude Enter latitude and longitude using keyboard, Latitude first and longitude next. Be careful while you do this and do not forget to enter the directions North, West etc.

My garmin nuvi 780 shows me at an address a good half mile down road from my house. Also, the lat and longitude it shows me at while i'm home is 15 miles from where i am. whats wrong here and how do we fix...

The accuracy of any GPS device depends upon having good locks on multiple GPS satellites (at least 4, but up to 12 on many units).

The main screen on the nuvi shows the acquisition quality in bars (like a cell phone), but provides no further information. If you have 5 bars, your accuracy should be much better than what you report. Ideally, it should be as good as 4 meters (13 feet), though that will vary depending upon the current configuration of GPS satellites overhead.

An error of 15 miles should never occur. How confident are you of your actual latitude/longitude?

The 330 and the 340 do not show latitude or longitude. That is a serious thing that Garmin left out of these two systems. Believe me you are not the first to find this is a problem.

Toggling between lat/long and grid references

I eventually solved the problem by firstly doing a restoration of default settings. This allowed me to toggle but it was between two different presentation styles of latitude and longitude. To restore the grid co-ordinates option I went to main menu, the Setup, then then toggled to location and re-selected UTM UPS as the location format.
