Wii goes on shows disc, but charged up remote wont work and also cant get to the wii menu screen and cant sync it

Open up the back of the Wii remote and hold down the small red button by the batteries. I had this problem when I bought a second-hand remote and even the reset trick didn't work. If this continues to happen, please help both of us!

Eye Cleaning

Step One: Purchase the Wii Lens Cleaner directly from NINTENDO. This can be done online at nintendo.com. Contact their support team if you are experiencing disc read errors, as you may be eligible for a free Lens Cleaner.

Step Two: Plug the Wii into an outlet and eject any game that might be in the system.

Step Three: Release no more than three drops of the liquid onto the cleaning pad. Too much cleaning fluid could be harmful to the system's internal components.

Step Four: Place the lens cleaner into the Wii's disc slot. Make sure that the system is powered on and that the blue lines on the cleaner are vertical. The Lens Cleaner should be inserted with the top facing the right side of the system when vertical, and the top when the system is laid horizontally.

Step Five: Move the Lens Cleaner gently up and down in vertically-oriented systems and left to right in horizontally-oriented systems. Move it 3/4 of an inch between 10 and twenty times.

Step Six: Press "Eject" to remove the Lens Cleaner. You should not need to use any force to remove it

My wii cant connect the 2nd remote at the opening screen why?

Yes, when you're at the menu, click the home button, at the bottom it should say something like "Wii Remote settings," click it. Now click "Reconnect," hold down 1-2 buttons simultaneously on all the remotes you wish to connect. If they won't connect, then you need to sync them, behind the battery cover on the back of every remote is a little red button, hold it down while holding down the red sync button on the wii, located next to SD card slot. Then try connecting again.
Hope this helps!

Wii doesn't work

Hey mushbean,

If the motion sensor in your Wii remote is not functioning properly, Nintendo has recommended that you try the following:

1) Hold the Wii remote with the button side down.

2) Gently tap the button side of the remote against the palm of your other hand a few times.

3) Check the remote to see if it properly responds to motion.

Should this not solve the problem, you may want to check out the online FAQ and troubleshooting guide developed by Nintendo for all Wii remote issues. The FAQ can be found through the following website:

http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wii/en_na/ts/wiiremote.jsp

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron

Reconnecting

When you turned off the Wii, did the light turn red or amber?
If you haven't done this already, hold the power button until it shuts off, and the light is red. Power it back up and try your remote again.
