Question about Sony VAIO VGN-FS810/W Notebook

1 Answer

Need a new recovery disk

My vaio is not working properly so I took it to best buy for repairs.  They suggested that I need to get a recovery disk to assess the problem, so my question is how would I go about finding a recovery disk online? Because I find all kinds of complications when trying to even find a picture of a VGN-FS810 series on the sony.com site! So please if you have any info that can be of use please help me and I would greatly appreciate it. Thx

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

I need VAIO® VGN-FJ170/B Restore Disks

You can create your own disc from the Vaio recovery center.

If the computer is no longer booting up and the Vaio Recovery center is no longer accessible, you can call sony parts center to check if you can buy a recovery disc for your unit

Sony Vaio VGN-FS980 laptop recovery disks

Check your user manuals and see if there is a recovery partition mentioned in there. If there isn't then you will need to buy an operating system cd and reinstall from fresh.

Hard drive failure in system less than 2 years old!!

Since you are comfortable with working inside your computer, the best thing to do now is to purchase an external enclosure for your type of hard drive, SATA or EIDE.

Alternately you can use a live linux cd, boot up with that, and transfer your data to an external drive.

Once your data is safe, try booting to the Windows cd and attempt a repair installation.

And finally, yes, hard drives can go bad in 2 years or less.

Hard drive.

since that it crashed, it is more practical that you reformat it, rather than buying new one. it is the system crashed not the whole hard disk and there is a great chance of reviving it , you have the recovery disk with you, then better use it than buying.
