Dryer runs but no heat this is a gas dryer

Hi there,

Well if your dryer tumbles, but there is no heat then you may please check out the following -
1. First of all you can check out for proper air flow - Check the vent for proper air flow by placing your hand over the exterior vent while the dryer is running. You should feel a strong flow of air. If not then check the lint trap. It is located either on top of the dryer or possibly just inside the door. Remove any lint that has built up in the lint trap. Cleaning the lint trap should be done regularly, even as often as after every load. Do not operate the dryer without a lint trap in place.

2. Secondly you can check out the Ignitor - gas dryer blows air through a burner assembly to heat the air. The burner assembly consists essentially of a gas valve, ignitor and a flame sensor. If any part of the burner assembly malfunctions, the result will be low or no heat and slow drying of the clothes. Post comments for further help or information.....

Good Luck!!

I smell a burning smell from the dryer. I was running dryer a lot today and tonight I smelt something burning when I opened the door. I noticed my light catcher was full, could this be the problem?

Yes it could have been the lint igniting in the bottom of your dryer in future clean lint trap after every load and take trap door out and vacumn inside trap at least once a month If you ignore the lint trap you could end up with a serious fire so take care of it when you remove screen a certain amnt of the lint falls down into the bottom of dryer and after time a buildup can ignite.. more serious with a gas dryer as the igniter and burner is at the bottom of most gas dryers

The lint trap on my dryer is moist.

I don't know what's causing the smell, but the moist lint trap and the "takes two cycles" sounds like the exhaust vent is partially blocked.

You can ask the apartment manager to clean it out, or you can take a stab at it yourself with an electrician's fish tape, a plumber's snake, or a dryer-duct cleaning kit. (I picked links from Ace, but you can get them at any hardware or home shop)

Pull the dryer out and detach it from the ductwork. If you're using the fish tape or the drain auger, then you'll want to tie a rag to the end -- washcloth to dishtowel sized at the biggest -- to wipe the lint out of the ductwork. If you've got the duct-cleaning-kit, then use the brush that comes with the kit.

Work your way up and down the ductwork as far in as you can reasonably reach. Chances are good that you'll soon have a huge pile of lint on the floor, and much better airflow through the ductwork.

Hook up the dryer and things should go much better on the next laundry day.

Gas dryernot heating up

hi,

try and reset the motherboard by unplugging power and waiting a few minutes and plug back in. What did you clean your dryer with?
If it was sharp you may have nicked a sensor, buy the wiring diagram and study away. Use caution with gas of course, shut it off look for shutoff , the flexible lines are brittle, be careful take time.
