I get an error message diskette drive O seek failure. What does this mean. My computer was fine last week then i went to play a cd and the tray wouldnt open now i cant get it to close. i am disable and...

It means that your diskette drive is enable in BIOS it normally happens when you restore the default settings of your BIOS.
You have to boot to safe mode by pressing F2 in most computers or Del key.
If you dont have any diskette drive then disable the Diskette Drive or Floppy disk then press F10 to safe then restart.
Hope this Help

Dvd/cd drive will not open or spin up

There's usually a tiny hole in the CD drawer (if it's a computer CD player).  That's the manual tray eject, and you can use that to open the tray.

Before doing that though, I'd make sure there's power getting to it.

Eject does not open

Most hard-drives do *NOT* have an EJECT button.
Most diskette-drives *DO* have an EJECT buttton.
Most CD/DVD-drives *DO* have an EJECT button.

Turn your computer off. Straighten one end of a Norwegian paper-clip, and insert it into the small hole in the front-plate of the CD/DVD drive, until you feel "resistance". Then, push it another 1/4 inch, and the drive-tray should "unlock" and open slightly. Then, gently pull the tray fully-open. Remove any CD/DVD media. Then, replace the CD/DVD drive.

Hoow do you open gateway MX6440. No audio. Bootup

Typically, a computer tries to "boot" from several devices:
1. 3.5-inch diskette
2. internal CD-ROM
3. internal disk-drive
4. USB memory-stick
5. network (if a "boot-server" can be found on the network)
6. external diskette
7. external CD-ROM
8. external disk-drive

So, in your case, either

* the "boot-order" _EXCLUDES_ your disk-drive,
* your disk-drive is not connected,
* your disk-drive is connected, but is "dead" (not responding)

Not being able to boot from the disk-drive, your computer probes, via the network, for a "boot-server". Finding none, your computer reports, in a strange way, that "network cable is not connected to a boot-server".

So, the "check cable" means that the Ethernet cable between the network-port on your computer and the boot-server may be "unconnected".

What this could mean is that your disk-drive is "dead".
Take the computer to a qualified technician, for more trouble-shooting.
