1) make shure you have got a xbox live membership with online playing time left. 2) create a new user on your xbox, sighn up for xbox live and see if you can play it on that account. 3) try sighning in and out of your user a few times. 4) make shure your xbox is connected to the internet. 5)make shure your xbox does not need a update, if so then update it.
if all this fail then consult athe manufacterers online support.
There are a few things you can try;
Clearing your cache, you can download the update on your PC through xbox.com and the transfer it using a USB thumb drive.
If that still doesn't work, I'd try contacting xbox support, they might have a solution for this issue by now.
Try plugging the xbox straight into the modem and not the router, if it still happens, reset your modem and router and try again. Xbox live can be sketchy at times. Also the traffic to xbox live because of the holidays can sometimes screw with the updating and such.
Xbox 360 to network is ok. network to internet is ok. internet to xbox live comes up 40% connected and pops up with update required. when i try to update the bar doesnt move and then it comes up with failed to update.
Some game are compatible with the new xbox 360. They are called backwards compatible and you do need to flash upgrade the OS on the new xbox 360 system.
You need to go to the xbox website and go to support and download the flash update then burn it to disk and put it on the xbox to update the software. Again not all old games are compatible with the new xbox system. If your buying used games like I do make sure it says bc next to the title before buying them.
Here is the link to the upgrade
The MTU(Maximum Transmission Unit) failure when testing the xbox's connection can be do to a few things because Xbox live requires a minimum MTU setting of 1364. Sharing a slower internet connection with other PC's in the house can cause this error, The incorrect MTU setting in your routers programming can cause this error, The lack of firmware updates to your router can cause this error, an older modem from your service provider can cause this. Old or worn network cables and jacks and or RG(coax) cables if you have cable internet could cause this. Your Router or gateway could be incompatible with Xbox live.
Try a direct connection to the Xbox without a router and reset your modem before doing it. If your able to connect then you know its the router. If not you know its the modem or cables or jacks or even your Xbox if you havent tested it elsewhere.
You can tell your ISP to mail you the newest updated modem... sometimes they will have a guy just drop one off.
you need to open the port that the update is trying to go through. the easiest way is to turn your firewall off, but this opens up your security. another way is to forward the correct port through port forwarding on your router. findout which port xbox live uses and put in the information to the router
try resetting your connection, unplug your modem or router for 30
seconds and see if you get a connection. after that it would be a
software issue. more likely its failing to update because you have NO
internet signal. try also, re-configuring your network IP settings
which is usually automatic- with no disk in or through the dashboard.
if you can get into dashboard try manually putting these in.. but like
i said try unplugging your modem for at least 30 seconds to update the
IP. good news... if microsoft has to repair it theres a good chance
youll get a brand new system though it might take a few weeks at least.
is this with a brand new system?
