Windows does not have the best CD burning utilities. Google ImgBurn. It is a free download, it is simple to use, for not only burning but also ISO images...that's what I did and its great..if you have any problems let me know..

How to Burn images with Windows 7?

Windows 7 finally introduces a feature that other operating systems have had for years - the ability to burn ISO images to CDs or DVDs. And it couldn't be much easier to use. Just double-click the ISO image, choose the drive with the blank disc, click Burn and watch as your disc is created.

What happens when you try?

Perhaps, spending $40 to buy a new CD/DVD reader/writer, to replace your current device, is the quickest way to fix the problem.

Check whether you are putting the proper CD, I mean to say that its a blank CD. It could also be possible that your CD is bad.

Secondly you can also clean your CD writer using the cleaner.

There are certain CDs which are not compatible with the burner. Try using a different CD of a different make.

When i click on burn from the windows dvd maker an error message comes up indicating that my blank media is not recordable. I have tried using dvd-r and dvd+r.

Try to use different program to burn your dvds, try to use Nero, but this msg also means that Your DVd drive is not burner double check from the device manager if its says read only this means it cannot burn, it has to say write too.
