Intel Server Platform LB440GX 2U

What RAID card can I use in LB440GX 2U chassis?

By jessie25 - usenet poster

The LB440GX 2U rack chassis uses a L440GX board that has a RAID port on slot 5, the rack has a PCI riser in slot 6 so I am unable to use an ARO-1130U2 card. Is it possible to use a AAA-131U2 or AAA-133U2 PCI card and bypass the on-board SCSI or is there another supported device?

Cheers

Mike

Dear Michael:

This particular board is on the compatibility list for the L440GX+
Server. Check to ensure that you are using the latest firmware and bios
for the board. If you do upgrade the firmware and bios then ensure that
you perform a CMOS Clear and run the SSU afterwards. All of the files
you will need for the upgrade are available at url:

You may also want to disable the integrated SCSI in the motherboard
bios. You can accomplish this by setting the Option ROM Scan to
DISABLED.

G'day,

I've been unsuccessful with the AMI MegaRAID Express 466 to work
with the riser card the the Barbera chassis. The system does not
boot with the card in either of the 2 slots.

We had no problems with the Mylex AcceleRAID 250.

cheers,
Michael Baran

Dear Mike:

If you look at the information in the LB440GX+ Server Board Product
Guide, on page 15 under the Add-In Board Slots it states that you can
add two PCI cards to this server. You must use the PCI slots on the
riser card. You do not want to use ANY expansion slots on the server
board. If you use only one card then you must use the bottom slot on the
riser card. There is information on which SCSI controller cards have
been tested for this server at url:
