All right. Are you accessing the same Internet connection on another computer on the same network?

Have you ever been able to get onto the internet with this computer?

ok good, I'm just trying to narrow the problem down.

First thing you should try is updating the network drivers.

    They're HERE

Let me know what happens after you download and install them.

How did you try to install the drivers once you burned them to a cd?

Can I disable wireless and connect with ethernet cord and modem, for work do not want remove wireless cord, in the day want to be able to use my wireless.

Are you talking about direct-connecting via Ethernet to a cable or DSL modem? You shouldn't have to disable wireless to do that. If the cable modem has an open Ethernet port, you should be able to run a straight-thru Ethernet Cat-5 cable between that port and the Ethernet port on your laptop. The laptop should recognize that it is connected to the modem through the direct connection. Check the manual for the cable modem or information supplied by your ISP for connection details. You may have to do some setup on the modem to get an Internet connection, like having your ISP 'activate' the modem. Just be sure your Ethernet cable is a straight-thru, standard Ethernet cable, and not a 'cross-over' cable such as is used to transfer data between two computers.

Wont allow me to share my internet , its hooked up to wifi i want to run a cord to my xbox to give it internet possible?

Yes this is possible. You will need to bridge connections between your WIFI adaptor and Ethernet ports.

Navigate to Network connections, select both your WIFI adaptor and Ethernet adaptor. Now right click and select "bridge connections"

Take care!

WHAT IS ETHERNET PORT

The Ethernet Port is a communications port that looks sort of like a place to plug in a telephone cord, except that the end is wider. You can see an example here. On the left is the telephone cord, which has (as you can see) 4 wires inside it (as indicated by the 4 connections inside the port). An ethernet cord, however, has 8 wires.

I currently have a modem through at&t i recieved a linksys wireless router as a gift but it came with no setup disk..i cannot get it to connect the computer says it cannot find a signal..what do i need...

Hook up your router so that an ethernet cord is going from your modem to your router. Then connect a second ethernet cord from your router to your computer. Once everything is connected and turned on, open up your web browser and type "192.168.1.1" into your address bar. This will take you to the router controls so you can set up your network.

How can i get my laptop connected to the internet using ethernet cord coming from a home cable modem? i unplugged ethernet cord from home pc to my laptop and don't know where to go from here.

Hello,

You could just connect the ethernet cable from the cable modem to a etherner slot on the Laptop and access internet. NOthing else is required.

Hope this helped.

Cannot obtain internet

if you already have an ethernet card installed in the laptop, then it should be fine. did you try rebooting the modem that you are hooking the laptop to? Sometimes with different ISPs that is one of the major issues.

Lan has limited or no connectivity

go start /run and type cmd ,this brings up the command prompt
type cd \ and hit enter
type ipconfig/release
type ipconfig/renew
this should now have renewed your ip address
filally go to control panel internet options
and if your not using dialup remove it if its still showing
go to lan and auto detect settings
you should be ok now
