Question about Toshiba (P000377700) Computer Speakers

1 Answer

Toshiba laptop speakers

I recently bought a toshiba laptop with inbuilt speakers. When I try to play any music through, say, Windows media, it tells me that No Audio output device has been installed on my laptop.
It tells me the same thing when I hover the mouse over the little mute/volume control icon in the bottom right hand corner.
It doesn't play any sounds at all.

Look at the sticker on the bottom of your laptop and type it exactly the way it looks. There might be two different sets of model numbers.

Go into the device manager and let me know what sound devices it has installed. Also let me know if there are any yellow question marks in the device manager.

Okay, without knowing the full model number I think this maybe the page your looking for:

http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=SB&os=&category=&moid=2221250&rpn=PSLB8U&modelFilter=L300-ST3502&selCategory=3&selFamily=1073768663&selModel=2221250|PSLB8U

On this page click on downloads, on the operating system pull-down menu choose Windows Vista, then in the pull-down menu next to it choose Sound.

Click on the Realtek audio driver, click on the download button and download the file to the desktop or any other location that you'll remember and then after the download, double-click on the file and let it run to install the software and then you might have to reboot after that.

See if that works, if not then let me know and I"ll help you further, if it works then rate me when you get the change ok?

Let me know how things turn out.

I just bought a brand new Toshiba Satellite P75-A7200. It won't play DVD's and keeps saying wrong area code...I live in Australia, bought the PC in Australia and am trying to play Australian DVD's but

hi, I think this may help. what you need to do first of all is change the default player for DVD's from Toshiba Video Player to Windows Media Player, cant remember off hand how to do that but should be in manual, but try this. go to windows control panel, select 'Default Programs' and click on it, then select 1st option 'Set Your Default Programs' a list of all programs will come up, look for Windows Media Player and click on it, then choose one of the options on the right. The top one sets as default, the bottom one allows you to set file types to open with the program. this should work as it is telling your system to launch that program for DVD's etc, If you cant find your control panel, simply click Start and type it in the little box that appears just above it.
hope this helps

Sound coming through right headphone, but not through left. Sound also not coming through left speaker. Help?

are you adjusting sound through the windows controller or the application you're playing music through? there are a few things that could affect that, there's also the actual sound setup where you can change your setup i.e. surround sound, single speaker, headphones etc

Sound from speakers is not clear

Try head phones. Are they also not clear? IF they sound ok then its possible your speakers have been damage. Try another source, Music mp3, Cd, etc. Are all the sources the same. If Headphones sound good and speakers bad then troubleshoot the speakers. If both sound bad then troubleshoot the software and settings. Right click on the speaker icon in the task bar and adjust audio setting. Try playing audio with windows media player and then play the same file/song with another software, I-tunes, quicktime, VNC, etc. Does different software play the file correctly and another play it not clear. Then adjust the software settings in the player thats bad. .. .

I've just brought on too, I thought the same thing, have to use headphones or hook it up to a speaker otherwise I strain to hear anything. Was also disappointed to find no Media Controller software pre-installed. Overall love this portable computer.

No sound from external speakers with toshiba dynadock

if using XP, go to start control panel , sound and audio devices.Under the audio tab make sure the C Media CM106 sound device is selected under sound playback. Then under the volume tab set the volume somewhere in the middle or at the top if you don;t have active speakers . Then Under Speaker settings advanced, make sure the speaker setup is set to Laptop Stereo speakers. Also make sure the speaker volumes are up on the speaker volume button. click ok. If no result check that the cm106 sound decvice was cemented in as I saw it dissaper when I thought i had slected it. I think the key thing here is the device and the laptop speakers setting.
