George when you first turn on your laptop, keep pressing the F8 key and when you get to the system menu choose safe mode and press enter.

This will boot you up into safe mode. Once you get into safe mode. click on the windows icon in the bottom left and in the search box that comes up, type in the word MSCONFIG and click on the msconfig program that will come up. From there it will bring you into the system configuration utility, click on the startup tab and you will see all the progams that are loading up when you boot up into windows.

Disable all the programs by clicking on the disable all box and then apply the changes and click on OK and let the computer reboot and it will reboot back into normal windows. After it does this it should get into windows quicker and then see if you can shut down properly and if you can do this without the huge delay then this means you know that there is programs in your startup tab that is causing the problem. At this point go back into windows and then go back into msconfig and only let the programs load that are necessary like any anti-virus, firewall and spyware programs.

This should make things better. Don't forget to rate me when you get the chance. Thanks and let me know if I can be further assistance.

Before a computer shuts down it has to shut down all of the programs runnning. If you have added lots of software overtime then it takes longer. Also, next time you turn it on do a Ctrl-Alt-Delete and click Applications. Take a look at all of the processes running, the very large files are the ones taking the longest. You can google the file name. If you don't need it you can disable it, this will make it easier for it to shut down. Good luck.

Don't forget to rate this solution.

If it's 3 weeks old return it. Or you can do a System Restore/Recovery. Take a look at this forum for the Restore/Recovery Procedure: http://en.community.dell.com/owners-club/alienware/f/3746/t/19441985.aspx

You could try removing items from startup. Start > Run > type MSConfig > Startup. Uncheck items you don't want to load. This will make your PC faster. This can also be done with CC Cleaner if you haven't done so already.

Assuming you don't have a virus, the laptop's internal (CMOS) battery may be bad. Apart from keeping the time current, it holds onto your machines bootlog. If the machine starts up in Safe Mode, it would likely be the CMOS battery that's bad.

This is not normal behavior for this model of laptop. I would contact the manufacturer to have it repaired under warranty, as this is likely not a software issue.

Laptop randomly shuts down

This problem might be occur due to old BIOS version installed on the laptop.
If your system shut down unexpectedly within 10-20 minutes while playing games or scanning the system which takes high cpu usages then the problem is of BIOS and try to install the new BIOS version.
for that visit the site of your laptop company.

Lsass.exe Error insufficient rescources? Annoying help please.

This usually happens when your hard drive is getting full and Windows cannot increase the size of the swap file. Check your amount of free space on the system drive (usually c:).

Hope that helps :)

Laptop runs 6to10mins and turns off?

About your description I assume that the problem is related to a software conflict.
First of all check if the option Hibernate is Unchecked

Start >> Control Panel >> Power Options >> Hibernate (must be unchecked)
This can be a cause of your shutdown after 10 min.

But you said that sometimes before start the computer is shutting down, and that could be related to a some software conflict or power.

Be sure that your computer is not virus or spyware infected
Clean your computer and see what happen

Another way to avoid this kind of issues is reinstalling the OS again.
