How do you open HP G85 Printer to remove paper jam?

I was printing and several pages fed through. Something printed on a couple of sheets and about 8 pages stuck and I had a paper jam. I never had that problem before. I cleared the paper by pulling it through the front. I tried printing again. I get the message of open the door, clear the paper jam, and then press enter. I do, and same message appears again. It's clear from the front and back. I have turned it off and back on and try to use it againand it has a quiet noise for a bit and then makes some grinding noise and gives me the same error message.

You open the door from the back of the printer (turn the knobs) and the paper can be removed from the back. After removing paper jam, replace the door. It is a long door as wide and the printer, but about 2 1/2" wide.

My brand new hp 8500 wireless office ink jet printer say open the carriage access door clear the jam. We took the small 2 ink cartiages out and put them in again and this keeps come up.What do we do now?...

Why are you taking out the ink cartridges??
The message says to open the carriage access door and clear the jam. The printer thinks that paper is stuck in the paper path, see if you can find it. I believe that there is also a rear door on that printer, remove it and look inside.

The carriage is constantly jamming; every black catridge I put in starts leaking. How can I fix it?

If you are getting a 'carriage jam' error as soon as you turn on your printer with no tasks in progress, then check for any piece of paper stuck in the carriage. Remove the paper carefully. If the paper tears, part of it might remain inside the paper path and damage the product.

Follow the steps for fix HP Printer Carriage Jam

  • Turn off the printer and open it to see where the paper is stuck.
  • Manually move the carriage toward the opposite side.
  • Check the paper path and remove any piece of paper or any other object that is stuck in the path.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.

For the paper jam you remove the back cover and clean the 4 rubber rollers with alcohol, you can rotate the rollers forward while you clean. For carriage jam you start by cleaning the encoder strip that runs across behind the carriage unit, the clear strip with black bars on it, you can wipe with a Q-tip damp with alcohol. If no help you may need to take apart and clean dried ink off of the service station on the right.
