Question about Fujitsu I-GATE 802.11b (S26361-F2423-L300) Wireless Adapter

I killed the wifi in my Tablet?

I have a Fujitsu T4010D Tablet with Windows XP. Everything was fine until this morning when I tried to install an old CD I had for Motorola Phone Tools 4.0.
When I put in the CD, it didn't install. There was an error message - I didn't pay attention to it (I know, I know - stupid!) and instead I clicked on one of the files on the CD that looked like "install".
I saw the DOS window open and it seemed to be writing to the C drive. Then I saw the Fujitsu window open and it seemed to be writing to that! So I hurried up and hit Cancel. When I got out of it, my wallpaper had reverted to the Fujitsu default, and now it takes forever to start up.
Everything works, however - except the wifi. I THINK that all I need to do is reinstall a driver. Is that true? And if so - WHICH driver? How can I tell I have the right one?

I went to that link, and entered the options you listed - and nothing showed up! I think my notebook is too old?

I saw this online - I'm not sure that it's for real or spam:

Thank you - I found the driver and installed it. Unfortunately, it didn't cure my wi-fi problem. It still doesn't "see" the wireless network.

Oh - thank you for the user's guide - that is REALLY helpful! I bought this used, and it didn't come with the manual.

Yes, the switch is on. Literally - no exaggeration - my wireless worked before I clicked on that executable file, and did NOT work right after.

I used to have the most perfect laptop (for me) ever, and I ruined it. [sigh] I feel so stupid!

IT'S FIXED! And here's how: Since my laptop was fine before I installed that CD, I went to System Tools then System Restore and I restored my system to a previous date. It's all okay now!!!!

Hello,

Drivers for that specific model can be found here:
http://support.fujitsupc.com/CS/Portal/supportsearch.do

Select Notebook PC for option 1
Select T Series for option 2
Select T4010D for option 3

Will then list your drivers for your device.

I would go in depth to why the OS might be slow on startup, but without knowing specifically what the utility's name, and purpose was I cannot investigate further.

Hopefully the drivers will assist you though.

If this helps, please don't forget to rate the solution. Thanks.

Hit the downloads tab before you try entering the options. Then press go.

The link you provided is for a software utility. Don't know how well it works. I'm always hestitant about using utilities that try and find drivers for you, because sometimes they are incorrect.

The link I provided you does have your drivers. Make sure you select the downloads tab underneath.

Since installing my netgear wireless dualband router WNDR3400, the only way I can turn my tower off is to unplg the power supply. Please help

your pc problems have nothing to do with your new router. Your pc sounds like the mobo is not sending a kill signal to the power supply. You can either re-flash you mobo bios or try a patch for windows. Most likely this is not a fixable problem as the cost to fix it will be as high as a new pc.

Powerline PLE200 linksys trouble

I'm seeing many reviews for this device that imply they are not very reliable and may not work even out-of-box.
My first question is why can't you simply get a USB 802.11 device to use with your WiFi? XP can connect to any WiFi as long as it has a wireless network adapter installed. It only has native support for WEP encryption, but with SP3 installed you have support for all wireless encryption standards.

No association with access point

The first thing I would recommend is to try plugging the adapter into another laptop to see whether it, or your laptop, is the problem.
If it's OK on the other laptop, I would suggest un-installing the driver for the adapter, upgrade Windows XP to latest, downloading the latest driver from the Linksys website then re-installing the driver according to manufacturer's instructions.

Airlink AWLL3025 usb wifi will not work with Windows 7.Is there a way to fix this?

The drivers are only available through XP, http://www.airlinkplus.com/driver/wireless_download.htm .

It might be possible to use the compatibility mode to force the driver to load. To try this, download the driver and right click on the installer. Then choose Properties and then the Compatibility tab. Turn on Run program as Compatible with the appropriate OS. Then right click again on the installer and choose Run as Administrator.

I do not know if this will work. A method that will work is to use a computer (virtual, dual-boot, or true second machine) with an older version of Windows installed. If you have Win7 Pro or Ultimate, you can create a virtual XP computer for free. Download and install Virtual PC and XP mode from Microsoft. Install them in order. Then install the XP software from the above site in the virtual computer and it will work. (Other virtual computer programs are Parallels and VMWare.) All of the other options will require a licensed version of the older Windows OS. Please note that the virtual computer can't share files directly with the main computer. You'll need to save files to external or removable media (optical media or flash drive, for example) to share them.

However, in the case of a wifi adapter, this doesn't help since you will not be able to share the wifi with the virtual computer. You would be better off finding a different brand of wifi adapter that is win7 compatible. See microsoft.com for the hardware compatibility as you look for models: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/default.aspx

I hope this helps.

Two toshiba laptops, one less than a year old running win7...the other 3 yrs old runnign xp. both worked fine connecting wireless to my router sat. sun the win7 machine said the dns server was not...

Did you press a button (or move a slider-switch) on the WIN7 laptop, to "disable" the wireless adapter?

Can you login to the web-server "inside" the wireless router, and look at the "log-files" that the router keeps of "recent" events (such as connection-attempts from wireless devices), to see if there is any useful information in those logs?

Does the WIN7 laptop connect to _any_ wireless network (Starbucks, university, shopping mall), or does it fail ONLY when connecting to your wireless router?

Have you tried a "factory-reset" on your router, just in case that it might be the problem?

No wifi

The Fujitsu Lifebook S5582 does not have an integrated Wireless network card. This laptop was manufactured in 2001-2002. The integrated Wifi card was not generaly common in laptop computers until 2004.

So, you will need to buy a wireless adapter if you want to have wifi connectivity. Since this laptop is quite old, I would recommend a PCMCIA (a.k.a. PC card) adapter instead of a USB because it will be much lighter on the processor load.

You also have to be aware that using a wireless card will use more battery power and therefore shorten the expected autonomy of the laptop when running on battery.

Fatal Exceptions

Is this a new device? A lot of newer wireless adaptors come with drivers for NTFS based operating systems such as windows 2k or XP. Windows 98 runs on FAT32. I don't know if this will work. I suggest you upgrade your OS.
