Question about Amana ARS266ZBS Side by Side Refrigerator
I’m trying to trouble shoot a problem with a friends Samsung Fridge Freezer.
It started flashing both fridge and freezer temps and stopped working. Taking the plug out got it working but it is slow cooling down and when it gets to -22
(after 12 hrs ! ) it then does the same thing and the Freezer temp flashes..
A repairman came looked and then just said it need regassing which he can’t do.. and then asked for £70 for the call out..
Apparently the difference in temp on the two out pipes of the compressor wasn’t as much as it should be..
Sounds odd to me..
I suspect maybe she had a power surge and perhaps a temp sensor or the powerboard now has a has a fault?
The model no is : Samsung SR-2028CVW

If you are sure the fan in the freezer is running and you don't feel any air flow out of the top middle vent inside the fridge section, then the damper motor must be bad. The damper motor is behind that vent cover inside the fridge section.

Make sure your fan is working ,its located behind the freezers back wall. If it is working the vent from the freezer down to the refrigerator may be blocked (usually with ice). With out a fan you have no circulation but your freezer may look likes its working,it may last 3 days. Also if you can move everything out unplug it turn it off w/ doors open untill all traces of ice are gone this will free up any clogged tubes. Good luck.

The double dashes in your display are for one of two reasons. First situation would be would be "you turned the unit off". Press the up arrow on the feezer or fresh food control until a 4 is in each display. Second, if the control is locked out, the board has been scrambled or failed possibly from a power surge. Unplug unit for 30 seconds, and plug it back in and try to set control's for "4". If controls are still locked out, the board (12868513) needs to be replaced.

Hi,Your husband did good job, after cleaning and vacuuming, did freezer (bottom) have excessive ice?, if there's excessive ice in bottom, after cleaning, you have a defrost problem, but if there're no ice in freezer after cleaning, you got freon (gas leak) , there's a condensate loop, that passes through ref. body, from compressor that naturally develop, freon leak after few years, by rusting, normally it can be by- pass. vacuum and refill with freon, if there's no freezing, but compressor running, you'll need a mechanic, you got a freon leak. good luck.
