DC 14 low reach without good suction

I have a DC 14 Low reach with poor suction. The beater bar is clean, filter is clean and cylinder is clean. Do I need to take it apart to do more? What am I missing?

Not sure, but there are one or two more possibilities. There are so many Dyson models that It's easy to confuse them, but I think the DC14 has a short length of clear plastic tube leading from the beater bar area to the rest of the vacuum system. Sometimes this tube develops a crack, with the result that air flow around the beater bar is reduced. I suggest you check that. If you also have reduced suction from the hose, you will need to remove and inspect for blockages in the U tube at the base of the wand fitment, and also in the inspection port which is to the right of that (two yellow buttons to be squeezed to remove it, I think). If none of this helps, please post more details, if you can, and I'll try again. Good luck!

I have a dyson animal d17 i have taken apart completly and cleaned all filters and clogs and i still have little to no suction and wont turn on in the upright position

With no suction you should check the venturis. They can become clogged if you suck up wet dust, wet cat litter, etc. You\'ll need a Torx Screwdriver to get it apart. See where that gets you.

This vacuum keeps getting clogged in the hose and has terrible suction. The women who helps clean my house won't even use it as it performs terribly. Any suggestions

check vac air filter(not the dirt collection bag) also something could be lodged in hose mechanism so there is always a partial restriction. make sure the beater bar is not set too low. check the dirt that accumulates in bag to see that there is not an excess number of carpet fibers in there. beater bar should be clean and spin freely.

Hi the suction on my dyson hoover has gone very poor. I have cleaned all filters but suction is still pretty poor.Is there anything else i can do?

your problem with Dyson is the reason why a lot of them end up in the trash. here is the link to an article that will help you locate the cat fur, or hair or other debris that is lurking inside your machine and causing you to loose suction

Low suction

Hi, You can take care of both things at once. Here's how:
Unplug and flip your vacuum over, beater bar side up. Remove the cover base plate that surrounds your beater bar. It's held on with either clips or screws, and usually "hinges" toward the front of the vacuum to release when the clips/screws are undone. Remove the base plate. The beater bar sits in sockets where it fits into the vacuum. Pay particular attention to how it comes out as you remove the beater bar, so it will be much easier to put it back together. If your belt is good, it will want to come off with the beater bar, but will remain attached to the motor. If necessary, slip the belt off of the beater bar. Behind the beater bar, you'll see a cavity. This is where the vacuum pulls the dirt from the beater bar. Look up into the cavity; stuff almost always hangs up in there. Remove any debris that you can find. While you have your beater bar out, look at the ends, where it fits into the sockets. Hair and other material catches on the beater bar and winds around it. If it is in and around the sockets, it causes the vacuum to have to work harder to clean. Remove any debris that you find on either end. Get your new belt and place it on the motor shaft. Slip the beater bar into the belt, and install the beater bar and sockets back into the vacuum frame. It takes patience so don't worry if it takes a few tries to get it right. Once in, test your work by revolving the beater bar a bit with your hand. You should be able to feel the tension of the belt as it turns the bar and the motor shaft. Take one more look at the sockets, just to be sure that they are in the proper place, and that the beater bar is level in the frame. Reinstall the base plate. This should have you finished at this end.

Hoover U6476-910 - Very little suction from the bottom

If you haven't already, remove the beater bar. This is accomplished by unplugging the vacuum and turning it beater bar up. Remove the clips or screws that hold the plate on the beater bar and set aside. The beater bar sits in sockets, so carefully remove the bar, noting the correct position of the sockets. This will make reassembly much easier. Slip the beater bar out of the drive belt. Now, inspect the suction cavity that the beater bar would discharge into. Usually, things clog up here as there is a flex hose that catches things, creating a pluggage.
Hope this helps, --W/D--

Dyson DC 14 lost suction to beater bar/ suction to hose/stick

My Dyson DC14 had no suction...see if this works...turn the Dyson upside down...there is a length of hose that connects the bottom of the vacuum to the top, careful remove one end of the hose and check for debris...mine was clogged. Removed the clog and voila...it works. Thanks for the above info on checking the hose for cracks.

Dyson dc 14

Hi
we had the same problem loads of suction on the pipe but did not touch any thing when in upright mode. The brush bar was rotating but did not seem to be doing anything to the carpet. when we looked at the machine sideways the plate that surrounds the beater bar was not parralell to the floor The front was meeting the foor so from the hoovering position it looked fine but the back was tipping up under the vacuum lifting the brush bar away from the floor and stopping the suction. The only thing that seems to hold this parallel when in hoovering mode seems to be the connection hose from the beater bar into the cylinder (Clear plastic with spirals). This seems to act like a spring to hold the plate paralell. We twisted this through 180 degrees and flexed it a bit and it is now holding the plate parallel. Bingo! beater bar is connecting with the carpet and we are back to great performance. Could not believe it could have such an effect

Our machine is several years old so we might have to get a new hose. However there are no splits in it so we might try a bit of duct tape repair if it goes again as it only seem to be the rigidity of the hose thats rhe problem not the connectors.

Hope this helps
