Dell 6100 laptop blank screen

Everytime I start my computer it loads to the screen where it asks if you wanna run in safe mode, safe mode with networking etc, and when I boot it in any of the modes it goes through all the load ups and then just goes black except for the pointer from the mouse which is movable? I tried reseating my ram and hard drive and still nothing. I do not have an external monitor either to try and use with it either. PLEASE HELP I need my compter for school!!!

Boot into the one that says, "Safe Mode with Command Prompt"

Once it's done it will ask for an admin password (sometimes) if it does just press the enter key, unless you set the Administrator password to something else.

Once your past that.

Type:

chkdsk /r

a message will pop up (sometimes) saying something about the disk being locked, blah, blah, blah.

Just press the Y key, then enter.

Restart the computer.

Let it do it's thing ( disk check will appear)

Let me know if this solves your problem.

The restarting can be done in the following way:

2. While the computer is starting, press and hold down the F8 key until the Startup Menu appears
3 Use the UP ARROW and DOWN ARROW to select Safe Mode, press ENTER.
Now to the display settings
1 Open Display Properties in Control Panel
2 Click the Settings tab
3 If for some reason you are not in safe mode go through following:
In Colour quality, clock to alower settiing
Move Screen Resolution slider to the left if you want to reducethe size of the desktop
To Refresh frequency click Advanced and check the Adapter and Monitor.
4 After you have made your changes click OK
restart the computer if you are told to do so. But do not do it in safe mode..

On start up computer will not display log in window, unable to get to login screen. Blank screen

AS YOU ON THE SYSTEM BEFORE WINDOWS STARTS KEEP PRESSING THE F8 KEY CONTINUEOUSLY. A MENU WILL APPEAR. SELECT SAFE MODE AND ENTER. WINDOWS WILL LOAD IN SAFE MODE. THIS WILL SOLVE SOME OF YOUR PROBLEMS. NOW RESTART THE SYSTEM IN NORMAL MODE.

IF THIS DOES NOT WORK SELECT "LOAD WINDOWS WITH LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIGURATION " AND THEN RESTART. THIS WILL SURELY SORT OUT YOUR PROBLEM.

PLS REPLY OR COMMENT. THANKS

Is there another way to have my T3500 run in safe mode other than F8...When I press F8 while my computer is booting up it gives me a blank screen.

If you stop windows from booting up all the way by holding down the power button during the "loading windows" screen, until it turns off. Start it back up and before windows loads it will give you a menu, with options like "start windows in safe mode with networking" or "safe mode with command prompt"

Reset my computer

Do the normal process of restarting and then hit and then after the POST screen or the BIOS screen, hit F8. It will print options. You have the option to start it in Safe Mode or Safe Mode in Networking.

Monitor goes blank

Try restarting the computer in Safe Mode and then check. In case it flickers in Safe Mode too, then the LCD screen might be damaged and you might need to replace it.

Sounds like you have a bunch of spyware and adware. If you are lucky enough to be able to save your computer, boot into safe mode with networking and download and run scans with the following programs:
AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition
Lavasoft Ad-Aware Free Edition
Spybot Search and Destroy

In Spybot, run an immunization as well which should help to prevent future "breakouts" I would also recommend setting Spybot and AVG up to do a weekly/monthly scan of your computer. You can also do this with Ad-Aware but you would need to pay for a higher version.
