Freezer not freezing, refrigerator side not cold enough

Refrigerator not cold enough. Freezer is cool slightly but will not freeze and obviously no ice. The temp. setting control for both freezer and fridge is at top on fridge side, but do not appear to have any effect on the cooling level of either side.

With the freezer door open, when switch is held down [as if door was closed], the motor or fan [I'm not sure what it is] can be heard. There is no ice build up on the interior walls of freezer.
The model number is SSS25KFMD WW
What can be done? THANKS!

Sounds like compressor might not be running. pull unit out and remove bottom panel to access compressor area. beware of electrical wiring!!!! touch compressor to see if it warm. make sure fan motor by compressor is running.

SOURCE: Items sometimes freeze on refrigerator side of unit - model GSS25LGMA

It is most likely a bad damper motor.  This is where the cool air comes out into the fridge section.  On this model it is a fairly common problem and comes a whole assembly.  The part # is WR49X10091 and will cost anywhere from $100 to $122.  Knowing this model I would bet this is your problem.  If the damper is bad and stuck open cold air will just keep blowing in.  It is suppose to open and close based on the temp setting.  Let me know if you have any other questions.

SOURCE: freezer door was left open, now after one day freezer is not cold

you can unplug it and let it defrost on it's own or you can melt out the air ducts, you'll have to shut down the freezer, remove the shelves and remove the inside back wall of the freezer section and melt out all the ice in the right hand corner and any ice on the coil.when melting out the air ducts be careful not to damage any of the plastic or styrofoam on or inside the wall, heat up the area with a hair dryer for a couple of minutes and then move to the coil, after a minute or two go back the the air duct, when you think it's melted out enough turn the freezer back on and with your hand check to make sure the air is blowing into the fridge side,if you can feel air blowing then your all set,if there's any ice left in there the defrost will take care of it.if you have another fridge to put your food in or if the food can't be refrozen i'd just unplug it and let it melt out on it's own over night and you can clean it out while everything is out of it.let me know how you make out and good luck, hope you didn't loose that much food

SOURCE: I have A GE side

There is 2 stats. to run defrost. One is white and is located upper left corner. This is the one that sends into defrost and stops the defrost. It is low voltage and talks to the motherboard. The other stat is inline with the heater. It is only safety stat. Try changing the white stat. If this the one you changed then your motherboard is bad. I hope this helps.

Freezer compartment of refrigerator not freezing

First, I think it’s important to know that the Ref side has no cooling coils, it’s basically a box and the cold air in the freezer is blown over by a fan through a channel into the Ref side. This channel has a door which regulates how much cold air goes through. You probably have two control knobs in the Ref side, one controls the temp with numbers 1-9, 9 being the coldest. This temp control tells the compressor how long to run. The other control is for that little door and it may have letters A-E, E being the coldest. If you set it on E (coldest) then this will close that little door and keep most the cold air in the freezer.
So, how can the Ref side be cold and the freezer side not freezing?

1. Coolant leak. There is enough coolant to keep the Ref side cool but not enough to freeze on the freezer side.

2. Defrost system failure. The coils on the freezer side are clogged with ice and it's just a matter of time when the Ref side won't cool either. The back wall in the freezer will be covered with ice/frost
