My power supply is blinking orange when i put it in the xbox 360 what do this mean.

Hello. An orange light is illuminated on the power supply for one of the following reasons:

a The console is turned off.
b The power supply is disconnected from the console.
c The power supply cord is not fully inserted into the power socket of the console.
d The power supply is faulty.
e The console is faulty. (The console might be faulty if it does not turn on when the power supply light is orange.)

The power supply has several built-in safeguards to help prevent damage to either your Xbox 360 console or the power supply itself. The power supply will automatically turn off if either the current flow, the voltage, or the temperature is too high. When the power supply turns off for any of these reasons, the light on the power supply will turn from green (normal) to orange or to red, or the light will turn off. When the power supply light is green, the power supply is working correctly. What you are experiencing is an over heating issue, that may have damaged the supply.

With that being said, i would try to reset the supply by disconnecting the unit form the console, and unplugging the power supply unit form the wall socket for 5 minutes. Once the 5 minutes have passed, reconnect the unit to the console, and plug the power supply into the wall socket. If the console dose not power up, and the supply unit is still showing an orange illuminated operating light, this will confirm that the power supply unit will need to be replaced. Contact Microsoft for the correct replacement parts needed(power supply unit)

1 Do not block any ventilation openings in the power supply.
2 Do not put the power supply on a bed, on a sofa, or on any other soft surface that might block ventilation openings.
3 Do not put the power supply in a confined space, such as a bookcase, a rack, or a stereo cabinet, unless the space is well ventilated.
4 Do not put the power supply on a stereo speaker, an amplifier, or a heat source such as a radiator or a heat register.
5 Do not use an unlicensed accessory, such as a replacement power supply that was not manufactured by Microsoft, or any accessory that plugs in between the Xbox 360 console and the power supply.
6 Plug the power supply directly into a working wall outlet. You may have problems with the power supply if you use an extension cord or a power strip if the extension cord or the power strip is faulty or cannot supply the required power to the console.
7 If you are not sure about the reliability of an AC power outlet, power circuit, or power cabling, do not use it. Contact an electrician.

Samsung, same exact problem - flickers on power up for a few min

This sounds like a power supply problem, how old is the monitor? If it is not new in the last year and is used regularly it sonds like a faulty capacitor in the power supply. If you are aware of the precautions necessary when handling capacitors and a moderatly competent solderer then you can replace then yourself - a complete set of capacitors usually costs around £3 or $5

FLM-2601 will not power on

I have a 2-year-old FLM2601 that all of a sudden refused to power up, total black out. I searched the web and found the power unit seems to have a lot problems one form or the other. To keep it simple I decided to replace the whole power supply assy. I got the replacement part from "Best Buy Partserach". Part number: 6LM00220C0 (or Advent 667-L27M6-20C), about $90. I swapped the power board assembly, and everything work fine now, only hope this time it last more than 2 years…

It took a while to dismount the back panel, you need to get all the screws off, including those holding the bracket for I/O ports, the RF will remain connected by wire, but you can wiggle it through the opening when back panel comes off. I Also took the TV off the stand.

Good luck!

Polariod FLM2601 Power Problem

I don't know why it isn't working, but I did feel I should say that if you do get it fixed I would change those capacitors out. The original capacitors that you replaced were high temperature electrolytics, rated to 105 degrees Celsius. the radio shack capacitors are rated at 85 degrees Fahrenheit maximum. As I believe that this common problem with these units is caused by those capacitors overheating, I would highly recommend you use replacements with an equivalent or higher temperature rating.

Sounds like a thermal breakdown of a componet. it could be in the main power supply regulaor supply or even a bad capacitor in the power or sweep supply. In some cases Zener diodes can break down and change values after warm up. In some cases also bad solder connections in the highvoltage section, or the power supply can cause this problem. It is a hard call without being able to look at the set. Just a few leads on where to go first. most likly a combo unit, such as this one , would cost you more then a new one these days. Good Luck PS Please dont forget to rate this thread.
