Question about HP PSC 2210 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

My 2210 all-in-one printer has a contiuing clicking noise after powering it on, and it will not copy, print, or scan. It will not work at all. I have been through all of the trouble shooting protocols and nothing helped. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling everything to no avail. So, I am thinking that there must be a mechanical problem, but I do not know how to disassemble the printer in order to check it out. Can anyone please explain and hopefully illustrate how to disassemble the printer for me? This would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your response. This printer is owned by my mother, and she does not remember how old it is. It is more than ten years old and has no warrenty. She does not have the money to spend for repair, so I am hoping to learn how to get into the printer myself and perhaps order a part for it if I can discover what's wrong with it.

Richard, I really appreciate your help. Can you posibly explain how to remove the glass without damaging something else. I assume that the glass has to be removed to check out both possibilities.

Sorry to hear that. If the printer is really ten years old, I don't think you'll be able to find parts for it.

You may be able to find parts for it, as well as service manuals from HP directly.

If you are experiencing clicking noises, it signifies a mechanical issue.

I would have to suggest a technician repair your printer. Depending on how old the unit is, check your warranty and see if you can get repaired.

There appear to be two possible reasons for this clicking noise - one is in the scanner head reset, and the other in the print carriage. Thare are several solutions for the first if you search the web, and they require removval of the scanner glass and cleaning. The second seems to be often connected with a broken spade-like latch on the right of the carriage which gets pushed forward by the printing mechanism when it reaches the right hand end of its reset. I have mended one on mine and the printer now prints, but I have not yet solved the loud clicking which comes from somewhere near the latch.

    Hi Jddixie
All the PSC all-in-ones are very similar - I have a different model - and there is a description of how to do it one one of the HP support pages (though I can't find it again!). Essentially - you unclip the keyboard cover which comes off easily - this will probably expose a screw to remove, then lift the front of the keyboard and unclip from the back. If there is no screw, try sliding the keyboard forwad. There are one or two electrical connectors which can be unplugged - just check which way they are connected. Then remove all the screws surrounding the scanner glass and lift off. Clean the glass and the white strip - and try again!
    Good luck

This is a common problem with these models. Any ways this is a problem with the cable connecting from logic board to the scanner assy. replacement is the best solution

1. Right Click on your printer Icon 2. Go to Printing Preferences 3. Click the Features Tab 4. At the bottom of the window you will see Printer Services or Device Services. Click on it. 5. Choose Align Printheads on the list.

Hp psc 2210 all in one printer

You can't load the software that came with the printer.

HP has a Vista page for your printer. Here is a link: PSC2210 Using Vista

Basically, you need to uninstall the software AND delete the printer from your computer. Disconnect your USB cable. Power up your printer. Connect the USB cable.

The above link gives some workarounds for scanning and importing images.
