How to repair a registry on Windows XP Pro

The malware probably corrupted your profile. Log into Safe Mode as administrator by restarting the computer and tapping the F8 key until the menu comes up. Select Safe Mode and hit Enter. You should have the option to log in as administrator.

Once you're logged in, go to C:\documents and settings and find your profile folder (it will likely have your name on it). Rename it and add OLD to the end (ie: SmithOLD). While you're logged into safe mode, I would also run another malwarebytes scan as Safe Mode turns off additional services and applications that could be hiding malware. Once you're done reboot.

When Windows loads normally, you should be able to log in as yourself and Windows will create a brand new profile. Your desktop, favorites, and icons will be gone but don't worry. Once you're logged in, go back to C:\documents and settings\ and the OLD folder. All of your old desktop files, favorites, and My Documents will be in there.

Computer won't start up - says file missing or corrupt: \windows\system 32\config\system. cannot open cd=rom to use original set-up CD

That folder contains all of your Windows files, so your operating system is no good anymore. So you have to reinstall Windows. It sounds like you have the disc so we just need to get that drive open. To get your CD drive open, you have to use the override system. On most CD drives, there's a little hole on the front. Sometimes it's hard to see. What you need to do it get a paper clip and straighten it out. Then stick the paper clip in that tiny hole. Keep going in until you feel a little catch, then keep pressing. This will mechanically open you CD drive. Just put the disc in and close it up again. Hopefully your reinstallation of Windows will work out. Best of luck!

File\minit\system32\Kdcom.dll could not be loaded. The error code is 4. The above massage is showing when I try to restore my Acer Aspire One.I am not able to run my window XP. Please help me.

It sounds like this file is corrupt you need to download a fresh copy and install it.
I would suggest trying to open your laptop in safe mode. While you are booting continually tap F8 and you should get a different menu. You need to select start in safe mode with networking. Follow the instructions to open it as an administrator.
When you have the system open use the internet to download a fresh copy of Kdcom.dll from here
http://www.dll-files.com/kdcom.zip?0WMmXCVMeO
Unzip the file to the same path as you show in your error message and overwrite the old copy of Kdcom.dll
Now restart your machine and hopefully this will have solved your problem.

Computer very slow ,won't print, forever to load pages, have corrupted files

Several things can slow down the computer: overheating, spyware, not enough RAM etc. If you know for sure you have corrupted files were they corrupted by a virus? You may need to reinstall Vista.

Is it slow when you boot up in safe mode? To boot into safe mode hit (usually) F8 while it is booting up. Let it completely boot into safe mode and then reboot again. Now is if it is behaving better.

To get rid of spyware download the free Spybot Search & Destroy from the net, run the update and then run it to dectect and get rid of the spyware. Spyware tries to send info which can slow down everything.

Overheating - does it feel hot? Is the fan running and pushing air?

If it worked fine before it is unlikely you don't have enough RAM. Windows itself needs at least 256mbs to run well without running other problems.

Again if you know files are corrupted, if they are windows files, you might need to reinstall vista.

I HAVE TO START MY COMPUTER LAST GOOD CONFIGURATION. WINDOWS DO NOT START NORMALLY. THERE IS A AUTOMATIC CHECKING OF DISKS IF WINDOWS START IN NORMAL MODE ,HOWEVER AFTER COMPLETION EVEN THOUGH DISK CLEAN...

Hi,

If this happened after installing IE8, I would suggest you try and start the computer in safe mode and then uninstall. Go to C:\WINDOWS\ie8\spuninst and double click on spuninst.exe (picture of a computer). This will revert the system back to the previous version of Internet Explorer.

Restart the pc and see if it loads back into windows OK

If this does not fix the issue, go back into safe mode, click on start, run, msconfig. Click on system restore and follow the instructions. This will take you back to a previous point in time so make sure you choose a time when the pc was working.

If you are unable to get into safe mode or the above still does not work, then there may be a corruption in Windows. You would need to think about repairing windows or recovering windows back to the way it was when you bought it with your recovery discs or a Windows XP CD

Hope that helps

normaly if safe mode boot succeed, then in next boot it will not ask for anything, the windows boots normaly.
