Hi, I've never used a trimmer before so I'm a bit lost. We bought a Ryobi Line Trimmer RLT30CES. The instruction is came with referred to figures for how to put it together and how to use it and the difference between when to use the different heads; but there were no diagrams/figures anywhere. Does anyone have a copy?

Hi, I wished I had read this before I bought my rlt1038, I used it for 8 mins and 1) long grass caought around the drive head, 2) I tried to undo the screw holding the line head. Fortunately I have a wide pair of foot prints to go across the line head and a central heating pump adjustable spanner- after 5 mins I had undone it. Yet another bad design ! Good Luck
Hi there, takes a bit of working out without a manual, but try this....take bottom half of trimmer line spool off, get piece of spool line approx 60 cm, long and thread through centre holes, ( bit fiddly but ) pull line through until you have equal length on both sides, dont try and wind it up onto the spool, just put ends of line through outside cover holes, then lock spool in place in other half. now simply wind the knob at the end and the line should retract into the spool., sounds complicated but really isnt, best regards and good luck, Philbee
You may have tried this already, Apologies if you have.
I have had the same problem & spent a day stripping the unit down
(dismantled & re-assembled the carb, seemed OK fuel reaching & flooding the plug) I unscrewed the spark plug from the body, but left it connected to the lead and found that there was intermittent spark when pulling the cord. and tested it with a continuity meter - no signal/measurement. bought a new spark plug, meter reading showed signal/measurement, now starts every time. It may be that Ryobi has been installing rather cheap nasty plugs. So test the plug first by watching the spark when pulling cord, test with a meter, if no continuity, buy new plug....this solved it for me
