Same senerio as earlier, with the new tbi, all new sensors, truck sits ideling black smoke!! Fumes will burn your eyes sittn in cab!!

black smoke is incomplete fuel burn in the combustion process
the burning eyes is the resultant noxious oxides that form from that incomplete combustion
causes ==
possible turbo failure (if fitted) incorrect air/fuel ratio
faulty injector tips --not atomizing properly
blocked air filter
faulty injector pump--overfueling

Master Reddy 30,000 btu heater put out nasty fumes.

Sounds like it's not getting enough air to fuel mix, check your air inlet line for breaks or just put a new one on for a couple bucks. any fuel line thats the right diameter will work, got mine from auto zone.

I have a reddy heater model r 50.. It ran for an hour, then shut off, I f I reset it, runs for 15 min or so shuts off... its old and borrowed, I think i might have a thermostat on it and just shuts off...

The R50 does not have a thermostat.

The 2 knobs that you mention- are they the screws in the black plastic end cover?

If so, these are the heartbeat of the fuel system and do not adjust. They adjust the air pump pressure which puts fuel in the nozzle and atomizes it. The pump pressure is critical. If the pressure is not correct the heater will shut down.

If you have adjusted the screw with a hole in it you will need to reset the pump pressure to specs. It's easy. http://reddyparts.com/photocell_test_sp.htm

Now, if you have not adjusted the pump, then you might want to check the tank for water.
