The power buttom on my Dell E228WFP 22 not working
The power buttom on my Dell E228WFP 22" monitor wont work. I push it and nothing, I did all the trouble shooting and the power cord is fine and I tested another monitor on the computer, all checks out. I think the switch is bad so I called Dell and of course the warranty ran out 6 days ago. So they connected me to the out of Warranty dept, who told me you can't get replacement parts for the monitor power switch. Any suggestions on how to fix it or where to get the part I need and info on how to get inside of the monitor to replace or fix the problem

disconnect all the cable from the monitor except the power cable .
see if you see any test screen and keep it on ,if the test screen blacks out you monitor is bad ,better buy a new one as usually repairs cud be expensive
disconnect all the cables from the back of the monitor except the power
you would see a test screen
if it still go to power safe while you are in the test page you monitor cud be bad better buy a new one as usually repairs are expensive
These monitors are switched by a signal from your computer. When this signal is present, the monitor turns on, when you shut your computer down, the monitor turns off. In the meantime it remains in "stand by" mode. The main moitor switch should turn if off alltogether. If it doesn't, the swich can be replaced, but cecause these are "momentary" switches it's not an easy thing to do.It won't matter a lot if you don't replace it.
stlmeuzyk, Internal "switch-mode-power-supply"/"ccfl-inverter-supply" will probably need to be refurbished (repaired). Use Dell warranty first if valid option! Try monitor on different pc or verify your pc is working properly with old, but known-good monitor. If your E228WFP unit is still not working then you or qualified electronics technician will need to tear-down monitor to evaluate and repair the ac to dc power supply printed circuit board. Before you do anything read my fixya profile to learn flashlight test that every ccfl back-lit lcd monitor owner should know how to do and interpret the results of test. The basic design and operation of your E228WFP isn't any different than any other brand!!! Read the older solutions in my profile and follow the links you find there. Then do additional comment if need more info. Good luck with the repair. 12fixlouie
