The drain will not drain

If its in the drain it could be hair caught up around the stopper or caught up in the trap. It could also be further down the line, such as if your in Michigan it could be a frozen pipe.

Everite umbrella part

Probably, but neither cheaply nor easily. Try scrubbing it really well with a steel wire brush, then repairing it with epoxy. Use too much - make sure there's plenty of epoxy on the outside for support. If that doesn't work, it'll probably require heliarc (because it's probably cast aluminum).

You MIGHT get lucky and be able to buy a replacement, which would save you all this trouble.

My decolav pop up drain will not open. I have to screw it on and off to use the drain.

If you can remove the pop-up part you probably will find it is clogged with soap residue and goodness knows what else. You will have to disassemble it, making note of the parts order and scrub all parts clean using an old toothbrush. Reassemble the pop-up in the proper order and you should be back in business

How does the lift and turn stopper come out so we can clean plugged drain?

  • Push the stopper down to fully seal the stopper against the tub drain.

  • 2

Turn the knob on top of the stopper counterclockwise with your fingers. Do not lift the stopper while turning the knob. Remove the knob from the stopper.

  • 3

Insert a large flathead screwdriver into the slot on the center shaft of the stopper. You will see the center shaft when you remove the knob. Turn the shaft counterclockwise to unthread it from the retaining hole in the bathtub drain basket.

  • 4

Use a pair of vise-grip pliers to turn the shaft if the center hole has corrosion and will not accept a screwdriver. Lock the jaws of the pliers securely around the shaft, and turn the shaft counterclockwise.

  • 5

Pull the stopper out of the tub by lifting it by the shaft.

Some of the drain plugs have holes or slots in them so that the stopper can not be removed without taking the actulating lever out from under the sink. This rod is part of the linkage that is hooked to lift rod on top, Unscrew retaining nut to remove rod so you can take stopper out. Remember that any water that is in sink is going to run out of this hole once you remove rod. Good luck and thank you.

Can the umbrella portion be removed in order to get at the drain pipe itself?

    Hi,
Yes.. but it is tricky...you need to loosen the nut underneath the sink and then to use something to grab the top part like a plumbers plier to turn the top off. Most of the time you will have to ruin the top part to get it off...

My daughter pushed down on the plug & now it doesnt pop up!! lever at back doesnt work as the suction is so good!

drain assembly can be taken apart from under the lav. first loosen the stopper lever assembly. then proceed to loosening up the slip-nut on piping nearest to the drain. The drain is held to bottom of sink by a nut tightened to a thick rubber washer. Remove nut and remove drain. Dislodge stopper. Replace drain with fresh plumbers putty, underneath lip of drain where it makes contact with inside of lav. Reassemble drain piping and lever.

Where can I find parts (seals) for the decolav push button drain?

Take it to a auto supply and have them match the "O" ring. Or try a bearing and seal supply (specialty) if auto parts supply store doesn't have it
