Try unplugging the wires leading to the convergence board, then plugging them back in. Tap the back of the red tube lightly, sometimes all there is a short inside the tube which is usually indicated by out of focus picture. Don't turn any adjustment inside the TV because it takes special equipment to adjust them back again, and these equipment are not cheap. If everything I posted here don't help, just use it for a while see if it goes back to normal on its own. Then decide to take it to a get fixed. Choosing the right shop is important. Preferably onces that specialize on big screen. Because I have worked in a TV shop before, and the procedure for them is very diffrent, and projection screen is much harder to fix than a regular television. This is one reason why it cost more to fix them. The shop I worked in charge anywhere from 200-over 400 dollars to fix a big screen, and to be honest with you most of the time another problem arise after that. Unless it is a HD projector, it is not worth paying a lump sum of money to get it fixed.

Convergence problem

Hello,

Did you lock the adjustment into the TV's memory? This step is the most often missed. Please follow the directions on the Users manual or on the service manual on how to set your memory to hold the configuration.

Find the menu item on setting the convergence adjustment into memory (the menu should have an informational screen on this topic)

I hope this helps

Thank you,

A repair facility will charge 400 to 600.00 for the repair. Or you can repair it yourself if you can solder. As both convergence ICs need to be replaced. They are STK392-110 you can get replacement ICs at the following link with free instalation instructions with pictures so you can do the repair yourself. Heres the link.

JVC AV-56WP74 self check question

Each picture tube (red, green, blue) has a magnifying lens assy that sits on top. On each lens assy is a manual focus adjustment with a wing nut that tightens it. The image bounces onto the mirror and shoots it onto the front screen. If you're not a technician then I don't advise you to do this adjustment. You could touch something in the high voltage by accident.

You have an convergence problem, There are 2 IC's that go bad and a few resisters that can change value. If you flip the board with the Chips inspect the pins for cold solder joints. The IC's can be purchased from matelectronics
