Question about HP Officejet 4315v All-In-One InkJet Printer

Paper slipping around while printing

It has always worked great until lately. Now when I receive a fax or try to copy, the paper seems to slide so that the printing is sliding around on the page or some of the page doesn't get on the page at all. I have tried different types of paper, but they all seem to be doing it now. It's almost like the rollers aren't gripping the paper correctly. If you can help, thanks.

Hi, paper has a chalk and dust content, both of which can clog up the paper rollers and cause slippage. use some damp, NOT WET, pan scrubber on the paper rollers and this should stop the slippage.

Need to print a fax in memory, machine was turned off and unplugged

It may be too late to print the faxes if your printer was unplugged. But you can try:

reprint the faxes in memory

Your HP OfficeJet can store a limited number of fax pages in its memory, with

the number of pages depending on the model you purchased. When your

HP OfficeJet runs out of memory to store faxes, it will not receive any more fax

calls until the stored faxes are printed.

Reprint Faxes in Memory enables you to reprint a fax stored in memory. For

example, if your print cartridge runs out of ink or paper becomes jammed when

printing a fax. This option prints all faxes in memory; press Cancel to stop

printing faxes you do not need.

1 Press Menu.

2 Press 2, then press 3.

This selects the Fax Functions menu, then selects the Reprint Faxes in
Memory
option. The faxes are printed from memory.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Thanks, Joe

I have a lexmark all-in-one printer, model # x4270, when I fax someone, when received, the fax is a blank sheet of paper?

try and make a copy with the fax... if it comes out the same way... turn the paper face up if it was face down or vice versa and try again... if it works then fax the same way and see what happens... if all goes well then keep copying and faxing that way... if that works but fax does not work... print an internal report... if that does not print then you have main board problems... if internal prints print then you have a problem with your ccd... thats a big long strip that rests right under the keyboard... thats what does the scanning... if that is bad... then when you fax... or copy it will be blank or black... depending on what is blown on it...

When the HP Office jet series all-in-one front panel screen displays Memory Full, the HP Office jet all-in-one is not able to send, receive or forward faxes. Copying will also not work. WORKAROUND: Though the memory buffer should clear itself automatically after proceeding with the next task, like receiving a fax or starting a copy job, these suggestions below may help you clearing the memory buffer by:
  • Add paper to the HP Officejet series paper tray
  • Clear a possible print jam and proceed printing the fax.
  • Reduce the copying or faxing resolution via the front panel's menu.
  • Use the HP Manager to send a (group) fax or making a copy. More memory is available this way, as the HP Manager utilizes the PC memory. When sending a group fax, the HP Officejet all-in-one's memory is filled to capacity. To copy in color is only possible from the HP Officejet Manager.
  • Press START to clear the message. If this message persists, unplug the power cord, and after at least 15 seconds plug the power cord in.
CAUSE: The HP Officejet series memory may be full due to: Copying on Photo quality or sending a group dial, which will use an extensive part of the internal memory's capacity. No paper in the paper supply tray, while receiving a fax. This may result that the data remains in the buffer. Print jam while receiving a fax or copying. The data is still stored in the buffer. System error displayed on the HP Officejet display window. SUMMARY: The HP Officejet series will not fax or copy without sufficient memory to store the data of the page in the buffer before printing the receiving fax or the copy.

My printer will not print, therefore I cannot receive faxes. I can however fax to others. The printer cannot pull the paper from the feeder even though it's making noises.

On mine, the big drive wheel w/ the numbered plastic disk stuck to it cracked around shaft and stripped. Fed one page, wouldn't the next but made bad sound as tried. Said gear is first one on the left on shaft. Used little gel superglue. Stuck numbered sensor wheel back on any position; seems to reset itself. Took me gutting whole thing to find it though it though, duh. Got one plastic piece, one strip of pad, and two odd shaped pads left over, though. Hadn't figured out where they go yet but it prints and copies great! No screw left either!

Look where you put the paper in. See if you can see inside there and see the roller that turns and picks up the paper. If you can, make a mixture of alcohol and a little dish soap. Damp a rag with it, and reach in there to clean the rollers.  See if the rollers will turn manually, but be careful not to force anything.  Another way to get to the whole roller, would be to start making a print, while watching the rollers.  As soon as the rollers have turned half way, unplug the printer.  Now you can reach the other side and clean that.

There is another way to clean the rollers.  Using the alcohol mix, take a single sheet of paper, and damp one half of it with the solution.  Stick the single sheet in the paper tray, and make a print, but hold on to the paper so that it doesn't feed through the machine.  Do this several times, and the rollers turning against the wet paper should clean them.

Try to print again. It might take a few tries. The rollers have to turn against the paper and dry themselves off again.

If this works, then you need new rollers (cleaning them will only make them work temporarily and the problem will come more frequently until you change them).

Thankyou,

Blank copies

Thanks Guest with Best Solultion! OMG! I have had my machine printing blank for over a month now and reading stuff and trying to find a solution. Until finally today I found this page. I read your solution and hit the front like u said for several times and nothing. Finally, after the third try WALA...IT WORKED!!! Thanks again. If anyone has this same problem try this because it really works! Eventhough this is such a strange problem for such an expensive machine.
