I just want to know how to reprogram

You can reinstall/reformat your drive or your Operating system. Reinstalling your Operating system either upgrading or downgrading. You should bear in mind that reformatting your pc will erase all your files in your disk and you will lose some of your drivers (video card driver, sound card driver etc. it depends)
To reformat your computer you need to have an installation CD. Then setup your BIOS to boot from CD. Your CD containing your OS must be bootable. Then follow the instructions along.

These steps are similar to other Windows OS installations (Vista, Windows 7).
Below is the detailed procedure of installing Microsoft Windows XP:
  • Before installing Windows XP or any other operating system, you should backup all your data. Data can be backed up on a separate partition, if the hard disk is partitioned or you can back it up on external storage devices like CDs or on a network.
  • Restart the computer and go to the Setup menu by pressing F2 and change the first boot device to CD, press Esc and save settings.
  • Insert the CD labeled Microsoft Windows XP into the computer and restart the computer.
  • When the pc restarts, a message will appear telling you to press any key to boot from CD, press a key immediately the message appears and the setup process will begin.
  • After the files have been loaded, Windows will start and it will give you an option of repairing using Recovery Console by pressing “R” or continue with setup by pressing “ENTER”; press enter to continue with setup.
  • Setup will list all your disk partitions, highlight the partition where you want to install Windows, this is mainly partition “C”, press “D” to delete the partition, then press “L” to confirm.
  • Highlight the partition you deleted, and then press “C” to create a new partition, press “ENTER” to create the partition.
  • Press “ENTER” again to install Windows on the New (Raw) Partition you have created.
  • Format the partition using NTFS file system.
  • After format has completed, Windows will restart and setup will prompt you to boot from CD again. Ignore the message and let setup continue automatically.
  • Follow the next steps which will ask you to setup the system Time and Date, Network and enter a serial key, until setup finishes.
  • After setup has finished, Windows will restart and will welcome you for the first time; Microsoft Windows XP will have successfully been installed on your computer.

Windows not booting

Hello,

Regarding on your problem, the main issue their is the booting problem of XP after you delete the fedora operating system. That's common problem especially when the computer are in dual boot OS then you delete the other OS. Now, the reason why it usually fall into this problem its just because the XP is your core OS then you install Linux Fedora inside in XP so whatever changes you have done in fedora particularly deleting Linux OS inside XP affects the overall performance of your XP and eventually if you delete the Fedora without proper unistallation process done by Linux OS then the Boot Loader of your XP will also corrupt or delete that's the main cause of boot failure in your XP OS. Now the best solution there is to repair your XP by inserting the XP CD Installer and boot the CD to repair your OS or you can reinstall the XP OS without formatting the storage to prevent the lost of your data that has not yet already copyed a back up.

Please do this recommendation to save and restore your XP.

thanks

Need to reformat and reinstall os and updates

This can be done using your recovery cd that came with your pc. Power on your pc, and at the same time press the button on the cd drive to open it. Put the recovery disk (or the os system disk) into the cd drive and restart the pc. It should automatically boot from the cd and ask what you want to do. You can then choose to format the c: drive. It will warn you that you will lose all data on that drive, but since you should have it all on your software disks, you can choose ok. If you don't have all on your cd's, then you should try to get the software saved before you format the c: drive. You can use a startup cd for that, and save the software to a flash drive. Then you can format c:

You can't insert a Hard drive from another PC because when it was installed on the old PC it was setup to work with the hardware for that particular computer.

You will need to reinstall a fresh copy of windows on it to make it work with the new PC it's in.Boot from CD run windows setup, format the drive then do a fresh install.

This should fix the problem, if you have any new info or need further help with any of that post back. Thank you for choosing Fixya!

GO into you setup screen and change the boot order to not have the CD boot first, or jkeep a nonboot CD disk inside of the drive. It is looking for the OS on the CD first.

How to replace linux os w/ windows xp for my 2gb eee pc

Hey sinn - First thing to do is get into the BIOS and set it to boot from the CD. When your system boots there is a quick message like press F2 or Delete to enter setup. Go to the boot sequence and make sure the cd is listed to boot before your hard drive. Make sure your Windows cd in the cd drive. If it boots, then select a new install. Then delete all the partitions on the hard drive (C:)and create a new one. Then select it to install the OS on. Sounds complicated, but take your time and read every screen carefully before you press "Enter".

If you can't get it to boot, then go to http://bootdisk.com and download a boot diskette image. Any Windows 9X will do, just make sure it has CD support included. Create the diskette(s), change to the CD drive and run setup.
If this solves your problem PLEASE rate this as fixed. If not, please don't rate yet just add a comment letting me know you need more help and I'll be glad to assist you. Let me know what happens. Thanks.

Jeff

WIndows Vista, trying to reinstall but CD with OS not working...

It sounds like the CD is faulty. Can you take it to a local PC shop & ask them to check it for you? Also, try cleaning the CD - I have come across drives which wouldn't read a disc if it had a very visible fingerprint on it.
