Get closer to the source or run a cat 5 cable, doubt ms runs a slow server so it must be on your end.

My son has just bought a Xbox 360 kinect and he wants to sign up for the online Xbox live and we are unable to get the WEP key in order to connect. We are using the Netgear but have tried 192.168.0.1,...

What you are entering are IP addresses, these are not the WEP encryption key.
The XBox needs the Netgear WEP encryption key, this is in the Netgear wireless settings.
To get this encryption key connect a LAN cable from a computer's LAN port to the Netgear, open a browser and enter the Netgear configuration URL
http://192.168.0.1
The default login = admin
The default PW = password
You can now go into the wireless settings - you can view the WEP encryption key

Hi can u help me please i'm trying to connect my xbox 360 to play online but i've got a problem....... it says network connected internet connected xbox live failed

Hi loads of people are having the same problem, xbox live must be having some downtime or server issues if you was the only one then it could be your end but in the last hour their have been loads of posts regarding this problem and all users are getting the same message.

try switching you xbox off and back on and if it still dont connect then your going to have to wait i would try again in an hour or two, usually down time for the servers is a couple of hours while xbox install updates to xbox live, its not a problem your end so dont get changing any settings, the problem is with xbox live so just bare with them and it will sort itself out.

the last time this happened was about 6months ago and the downtime was just over 4 hours, so bare with them for a bit and it will be sorted.

you could try logging into the xbox site on the net and not through your xbox and check the xbox chat rooms and you will be able to find out more their.

let me know if you need further assistance ok

plz rate this solution as i have a whole page on unrated posts, thanks

I have a Cayman 3347w wireless router and I am trying to use one of the wired slots to connect my xbox 360 to the internet. the xbox will not connect. is this router xbox compatable?

Please try the following steps below;

To make a router connection to Xbox LIVE:
  1. Before you connect any cables, turn off your router, modem, PC, and Xbox 360 console. (Unplug your modem from its power source to turn it off.)
  2. Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on your modem and the other end to the Ethernet input port on the back of your router.
  3. With another Ethernet cable, connect one end to one of the router's Ethernet output ports. Connect the other end to your PC's Ethernet port.
  4. With the third Ethernet cable, connect one end to another of the router's Ethernet output ports. Connect the other end to the Ethernet port on the back of the Xbox 360 console.
  5. Turn on your modem, then your router, then your PC.
  6. Make sure your PC can access the Internet. If not, you may need to configure the router for Internet access. For help configuring the router using your PC, check the instructions that came with the router.
  7. Turn on your Xbox 360 console and sign in with your profile.
  8. If this is the first time you've turned on your Xbox 360 console, see Create Your Gamer Profile to get started with both the Xbox 360 system and Xbox LIVE play.
If you're unable to connect to Xbox LIVE, you can try to diagnose the problem right on your console. Go to My Xbox and open System Settings, then select Network Settings (setup XBOX using Automatic Configuration DHCP), Test Xbox LIVE Connection.

Hope this helps!

Please open your router page and open the DMZ page give an IP address.
Then open X-box page and force the same ip address it will allow your x-box to communicate with the router.

How do i change my NAT connection from moderate to open

This one is simple. Find the IP address that your Xbox is assigned by your router, then put it into the DMZ. This also goes for PS3 users who are having trouble with internet access.

XBOX Live & Netgear Router Help!!!!!!!!!!!

You need a excellent signal to your Xbox. Xbox requires a constant connection. My son as an Xbox and we had to run a wire connection to the Xbox no problems after that. Or you need to move your wireless router to the same room as your xbox to get a stronger connection.

Please rate my response.

hi,
in this case you need to do a port forwarding, which is something like opening the specific ports on router so that xbox will communicate with internet
for that we need to know the ip address of xbox and port numbers for xbox.contact microsoft for knowing the port numbers and their range,so we can do a port forwarding on your router

If you are using the cd that comes with the router, that is the problem. You do not have to use the cd. Go to the control panel and un-install the program that the cd installed. then:

Shutdown your PC. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem.
Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line. This is if you have a cable service provider. If you have DSL, the router needs to be configured with PPOe.

here is a website to help you setup the Xbox Live:
http://support.xbox.com/support/en/us/xbox360/XboxLive/GetConnected/SetupaHomeNetwork/HomeNetworkingBasics.aspx

You may have to copy and paste the link into your browser.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Xbox 360 wireless connection

If you already have wireless router you will need something like this:

Or you can always buy a third party wireless device that is capable with Xbox 350.

X box 360

You can't get an IP address on the Xbox that way. You need to get an IP address from a device that works as a DHCP server such as a residential router. Connecting the Xbox to the PC will do nothing for you.
