Phones are very picky about how their memory cards are formatted. They must be the ones to format them and sometimes they still don't accept it. They use a special file system which they need to have installed in order to use it properly.

As far as the computer making your memory card no longer pure... reformat it with your computer and make sure you look to see what file system you are putting on it (FAT32 or NTFS). I believe most flash memory is FAT32 but Windows prefers to format things to NTFS by default so you will need to change that setting.

Im phon not format/delete

  • Prepare your memory card for formatting. Decide whether you would like to format using your phone or your computer. If you decide to use your computer, remove the micro memory card from your phone and place it into the memory card adaptor. If you decide to use your phone's removable memory card slot, insert the memory card into the phone while the phone is off, before turning on your phone.
  • 2Navigate to the menu and select your phone options. Locate the menu that includes the technical list; you should see "Media Card" or "Memory Card" listed as an option. If your phone has a separate menu for Memory options, look within this for your memory card menu option.
  • 3Access the memory card menu and click "Options." Be sure that memory card support is enabled. Next, select "Format." This may be found listed or you may need to click on the menu within the memory card menu you have already accessed. After selecting the format you may have the option to choose between formatting the media card and/or the device memory. Select "Media card" if confirmation is required. Keep in mind you will be losing any data previously stored on your card.
  • 4Select OK when your phone asks you to confirm format. Your memory card will now be formatting to your phone and a progress bar may appear. Do not power off or navigate away from this screen. When formatting is complete, your phone will notify you and the progress bar will no longer be visible. You may need to confirm with an "OK" that your memory card has finished formatting.
  • 5For Windows users who wish to format using a computer, place the micro memory card within the adaptor and insert it into your computer's memory card slot. You can also connect to your computer using an external adaptor if your laptop doesn't feature one built in. After connecting the memory card, select "My Computer" within your Windows menu. Select your memory card, which should be listed within this folder. Right-click on the menu and select the format. Your computer settings will prompt you to accept the format and complete the process.

Sir plz tell me about my nokia 6600 memory card not format sir plz solve my problem urgent

You can format your memory card from the mobile itself. You can go to file-manager section of the phone and then select and format the card from the option present there.

Or, if your memory card is problematic, you can first format it from your PC via memory card reader and then reformat it using the phone as per above suggestion.

    Please rate this solution.

When iam opening memory card in nokia 3110c it is saying memory card not formatted operation failed.please guide me what to do

Hi, problem can solved. When a memory card says formatted operation failed,it means the memory has been affected with VIRUSin it,thats why it's not given you access to get into it.
What you will need to do is to format it.

You can use your phone to format the memory card by going to the option of the memory card and click on format memory card.
Also you can use a PC to format the memory card by using a memory card reader. insert the memory card inside the card reader and connect to your PC, click on my computer, you will seethe memory card icon displayed, right click on the mouse for options to come up, and click on format memory card and you done.

Note: When trying to format and it does not format the memory card, that means the VIRUS that affected the memory has damaged it totally, that means you will have to get a replacement memory card.

    Thanks for using fixya....
