Sounds like you need a new belt that goes from the motor shaft to the beater bar. That, or the belt has slipped off OR the motor itself is defective.

Hi I have a dirt devil vision. Hose works, but does not vacuuming the floor. Belts are not broken. Larger belt is moving, smaller belt that moves the brushes does not.

hi krueger, sorry for the problems but hers an idea how about turning on the vacuum and put your hand under the part where it sucks uo the dirt off the floor and i guessing you would have a little suction, since the brushes are not moving its going to not pick up as well as it should my guess is that the belts need to be replaced even if one is moving, i would change both belt to be sure and also are you smelling a burning smell if so then that would prove fact to needing new belts, hope this helps, Jamie

The brush attachment always slows when it hits carpet. I've replaced belts and it just doesn't do what its supposed to. I doesn't seem to work very well. If the brush isn't moving how could it move the...

One thing you might want to try is to see if the brush itself is binding up at the ends. When dirt gets in the end pieces and makes the brush difficult to spin, it will slow down, add to that the contact with the carpet and it may slow down even more. Give the brush and axle a good cleaning to see if it works better. Add a bit of WD40 to the ends of the brush axle.

Belt may be off the motor spindle, with the vacuum off try turning the brush by hand, does it turn freely or can you feel the resistance of the motor?

My vacuum is not suctioning properly, o hooked it up and cannot seem to pick up any dirt.

Make sure that the bag is empty, that there are no pieces of paper/large debris in the hose. Also, lift the front of the vacuum and while your hands and fingers are clear of the brushes, turn it on to see if the brush is turning. If not, you'll need to remove it and clear up the hair/string/goop that is causing it to stick.

does it have a bare floor setting that shuts off the beater bar? if the brush is revolving it will scatter dirt instead of picking it up

Hi.

If your machine is A few years old it may need new brush roller fitted.

To check roller for wear lie machine on the floor & pull back head end as if vaccuming carpet.

Now get A rule or straight edge hold this over brush roller & sole plate oppening.

Now rotate brush slowly by hand the bristles of the brush should just kiss the edge of rule. If ther is a gap you will need toreplace the roller.

Bissell upright vac, brush on bottom does not rotate

The front brush motor will not engage until the power is turned on and the handle is in the down position. In the upright position the brush motor wont engage. Typical faults will be the belt is broken and needs replacing or the fornt brush motor needs replacing.

Filter Queen, carpet attachment problem???

Open it up and see if the dirt inlet is clogged. It would be by the brush roll. But you must have a clog.
