Check your floppy drive and see if there's a disk in it and remove it. If there is no diskette in the floppy drive and you are still getting the error. You can go into the Bios and turn off the "boot from floppy drive", that way it will not look for the floppy drive when booting up. Hope this helps.

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LED flashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow my instructions to identify the fault and possible fix :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3598095-faulty_laptop_lcd_screen

Can not enter bios on a evo n620C

The hard drive is faulty and needs to be replaced then Windows installed on the new hard drive plus the laptop's device drivers.
Clicking Hard drive When a hard disk makes a clicking sound and the computer does not detect it then the hard disk is faulty. This is commonly known as "The click of death".
There is no way of fixing this hard drive, if you need to recover your data, then there are companies that can recover data off faulty hard drives BUT it will cost you an arm and a leg for their services.

Where is the coms battery for compaq evo n610c located

hi,

If your in the need to replace your cmos backup battery on your Compaq Evo N610c, N610v, N620c Series Notebook help might be just around the corner and thru the usage of this guide familiarize you with what you will need to solve the error prompts flashing on the screen regarding corrupt cmos. At this point you have come to realize that the notebook is no longer booting your Operating System should that be Microsoft or Linux OS's.
The first thing you will need to be familiar with, is where the cmos backup battery is located on your notebook. You can start by turning over the notebook to the bottom side and adjacent to the Main Battery will be a small rectangular compartment held down by two screws (Mini PCI Compartment Cover).

db96_2.jpg These two Phillips head screws must be removed in order to expose the cmos battery that's held in place by a battery holder.

db99_2.jpgThe battery holder accomidates the BR1225 Lithium 3 volt battery, allowing the two potentials of the battery to maintain power to the cmos chip and therefore sustaining the clock/date settings as well as the boot sequence set by the end user. These non rechargeable lithium batteries provide operational function while the notebook is powered off.
After having identified the location of the cmos battery, and having removed the two screws that hold the black rectangular plastic cover, use a non magnetic/plastic tweezer or equivalent probe and pry out the BR1225 battery retained in the Battery Holder. If you don't have access to a Volt meter to determine the diagnosis of the battery, then assume that it requires replacement, where a replacement would be any brand of battery that suits the BR1225 specs: 3 volts approx 40maH 12mm diameter 2.5mm thickness no wires and no connector. HP refers to call the cmos battery by the name of RTC Disk Cell. To order from HP refer to HP Spare Parts Number 241439-001 (Miscellaneous Plastics Kit Component) Applicable to Compaq Evo Motherboards: 291581-001 (Evo N610c) and 319778-001 (Evo N620c)

d0e4_2.jpgNow, while replacements can be for just any electronic store near your home/business, pharmacies also carry these types of batteries, but if your choice is to buy them here on ebay, we recommend buying them from a seller who has other Evo Part integration and has proven themselves to be fully knowledgeable on HP/Compaq Evo Models, whereby most likely they will stock other parts you will need for your Evo such as Hard drives, LCD inverters, LCD display, optical drives, memory and maintenance care products. Below are two sellers and the ebay store links to their Cmos Disk Cells. We have no affliation with them, but as buyers we have purchased from both of them in the past with good success and can recommend them.

good luck

I got a message that reads Non-System disc or disc error replace and strike any key when ready. What do I do?

Hi,

Here the reason why youre getting the error message

Remove the non-system disk from your boot device. For example, remove the non-system disk from the floppy drive or the CD-ROM drive.

Change your computer's boot sequence in you Bios. Make sure that you select a device that has boot files (or operating system files) installed.

If you start your computer from a hard disk drive, install a bootable operating system (such as Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7) on the drive.

Thanks for using Fixya

I have a compaq evo N620c and am trying to format it with xp. right now it doesnt get past the black screen where it says" We apologize for the inconvenience but windows did not start succesfully" and then...

When you place your Windows XP Disk in the drive, ensure that as the Notebook starts to boot, the words "Press any key to boot from disc ..." is on the screen and then press any key. If you do not get that option choice, go into the Notebooks BIOS and set first boot option to CD or DVD, then try again.
If the system you have on the Notebook is newer than the verion of XP that you trying to install, the Notebook will default to the newer system. A real pain! so make it boot from the CD not the hard drive with the bios settings.

I have evo n610c laptop but when ever i turn on the laptop itgives a messege that non disk system or disk error with some sort of noice coming from hard drive

This error message could be caused by the laptop not detecting the hard drive.
Check the BIOS to see if it detects the hard disk
If not the hard disk may be faulty or needs reseating. If the hard disk is faulty it needs to be replaced and Windows installed on the new hard disk.
A virus program may have infected the computer and removed or changed some system files - in this case Windows needs to be repaired OR Windows re-installed - this is the best option.

I can not install Windows on my Compaq Evo N620c

The quickest solution here would be to put the hard drive into a computer that has Windows already running, and format it through the operating system itself. I've run into this problem a few times, and when another computer wasn't available I would use a Linux boot disk to clear out all my partition tables, then I would load up with Windows XP and tell it to write a new NTFS partition. Do NOT select the 'quick format' option, you'll have to wait through the long one.
