Open the desktop and wherever the monitor plugs into just follow that on the desktop. It will either be onboard video (on the motherboard) or a separate card.

Either way you can always change the video card.

You just need to make sure it's AGP 8x

That's what your board supports.

Best of luck!

Installed a new graphic cards for Gateway DX4710-UB801A, it works for a day, but the next day, it wouldn't turn on, the power supply is not running.

Pull the new graphics card out to see if the power supply will start up, if no change, you will need a new power supply module.

When i turn my ATXAEG on the green light comes on but will not do anything

Sub out your ram one at a time and test, if you find one bad stick it will in some cases shut the computer down, next unplug hard drive and test, if no change you may have a bad video graphics card, unplug if possible! if system come back you know the graphics card is the problem, if none of these help the motherboard is the likely issue.

Horizontal lines come in the monitor I replce the monitor thinking thats the problembut no the horxontal line keeps coming back do I need to replace the tower?

There is a possibility of your system RAM being faulty as the Nvidia on board graphics card uses this to display the picture.

You can one fit a PCI Express graphics card which will fix the problem or two replace the faulty RAM module.

Hope this helps.

Im trying to disable the on board graphics card so i can install then new on i just bought. i have a gateway GT4024 and the onboard graphics card is an ATI Radeon Xpress 200 series

Your board has ATI integerated graphics, no need to remove. You would upgrade by adding a PCIe express card in slot. Do you have such a card? If you need installation instructions, let me know at "add a comment"

Ive looked and looked and my gf really needs to upgrade her graphics but i cant find a solution to this she is using a sx2803 gateway and its a mini tower and we need something to fit in it please anyone...

Since the Gateway SX2803 is a mini tower, you will most likely want to use a 'low-profile' video card. These cards are built short, so they can fit in smaller cases. You can find a fair selection here:

As for what /type/ of card, you should be able to determine what type of expansion slot(s) your computer has from the user manual, or by opening the case. I know the Gateway SX2803 25e has a free PCIe x16 slot.

First make sure you have the right modules (DDR 1 or 2 and the speed 400mhz or something similar).
Then when you insert the new modules, does the computer beep?
Of not then you ok, if it gives you al log beep there is a memory error.
And if you have a integrated GPU it takes some memory for its own use.
Or maybe the computer cannot handle 2GB.

Hope this helps!

I added a new video card and the monitor wont come on

1) Did you plug the monitor into the graphics card?

(Hey, happens! Sometimes in our zealousness to see what that baby will do, we mess up a little)

2) Did you install the Drivers? First?

These will be on the installation disk that comes with the graphics card.
Recommend installing the software from the disk FIRST, then turn the computer off, unplug from power, install the graphics card.

3) Does the graphics card require additional power?

Some graphics cards will not receive enough power, from the graphics expansion slot they are inserted into.

[Gateway GM5084 uses a PCI Express x16 slot, for best graphics.

(Left-click on Specifications]

Some powerful graphics cards require additional power cables from the Power Supply.

I need to find a replacement video card for my E-3400 . The cards that are readily available have the long flange for mounting. This one has a mounting flange that is about two inches wide. It also only...

The Gateway E-3400 Desktop computer, uses a Low Profile, ATI Rage 128 Pro graphics card, according to ATI Support.

It is an AGP 4X graphics adapter card.

(AGP - Accelerated Graphics Port)
Made around June 20, 2000.

This is the E-3400 Mid Tower System Manual,

,(From Gateway. It's a PDF file), in case you do not have this manual anymore.

I see what you mean about the mount bracket.
REAL SMALL! The video card is a Low Profile card, but the mount bracket is Unusual!

From searching Gateway Support,

1.Looking through their graphics cards,

2.Looking for an ATI Rage 128 AGP 4X graphics card, that is Low Profile, and has the bracket I believe your computer uses,

(Based on the above E-3400 Mid Tower System Manual, and the photos on this website,

Image 4),

4.I believe this is the graphics card you need from Gateway,

The only way to be - Sure, is to physically look at the Product number on the video card you have now.

If this number does not match up, please come back, and state so.
I'll give you the link to the Gateway Support page, with all of the AGP video card product numbers, so you can match up to the correct one.

Availability? I don't know.
You'll have to contact Gateway yourself. They have Select Retailers.

What I do know.

The link above, where I stated I looked at the back of the Gateway E-3400, to see close detail of the VGA connector, and mount bracket of the video card.

They're selling the entire tower unit for $24, and shipping is $20 in the USA.

Not advertising for this website. We don't do that here. I'm just stating what I found.
