The home key (top right) should get it to power up but if not, you may have other issues. try to see if there is an image with no light on the screen when it powers up. if so, your backlight may have failed. in this case it should also respond to key or screen touch. if neither you could have a hardware issue where it does not boot...

I need a power switch for my FineDrive 400 GPS unit.

Finedrive units are made by Navman. Try them to see if they have parts available. Finedrives are no longer manufactured and their maps are not supported for updates.

My finedrive 400 was working properly, then 1 day I got into the vehicle and the display was erratic, it turned of the device then turned it back on and the touch screen does not work now?

At this point, the youngest Finedrive unit is about 8 years old. They were manufactured by Navman. If your display is bad, try them to get a new one. My educated guess is that will be expensive, so it might be more economical to get a new unit.

Fuse blown on cigarette lighter Saturn 2001

It sounds like you have a bad charging cable for the GPS or the cable is overloading the cigarette lighter.

The cigarette lighter is designed for less power then a 12v power outlet.

Therefore it is easy to blow the fuse for the cigarette light if you install something that draws too much power.

My finedrive 400 doesn't show anything on the screen

does it boot at all? you should see the finedrive splash screen, then the main menu for a second or so, then it tries to load maps, how far does yours get?

if it boots but does not load maps or if it gives you an error then you have two options:

one solution is to visit C&C wireless and pay over $100 for a map update or even send them your unit for even more $. see http://www.finedrive-acc.com/shop.cart?action=ITEM&prod_id=F400-08CP

The other solution was to send it to Fine digital but they closed their doors in the US so they no longer support us customers. Because of this I made a DVD with map data I purchased from them before they closed and I added much better instructions; this DVD updates the firmware in the unit and loads the last map data issued to the SD card. you would need a PC with a DVD drive and SD card reader to use it. you can find these DVDs on ebay for $18 which basically covers my costs only.

Now, if it does not boot at all, no splash screen, you could have other issues, if there is an image but no backlight (hard to see but try looking at an angle) and you get responses to key presses, then your backlight could have failed.

if it seems to lock up on boot try holding down the two right hand keys on power up, this should bring up windows CE, if it does you may have a chance at recovering by manually running the repair data I sell to recover the firmware.

Your screen brightness may be set too low. Try pushing the upper right button and see if you can get to the display options page. Adjust the brightness and/or volume at this page as well. If no results, you may have to have it serviced.

No power to unit, but powers on okay in house with AC power adapter

Not sure if you'll see this post, as you asked the question back in Nov, but I
thought I'd tell you what I know anyway.

I and my parents bought the same exact unit within a week of each other.
There's works, and mine does not.

I took their cradle, and hooked it to my GPS, and it came on, no problem.
I took my cradle, and hooked it to theirs, and boom, nothing.

So, with that, I was able to isolate that the problem is definitely in the cradle.

I went to the manufacturer website, registered my Magellan Roadmate 700,
and then I was able to contact customer support. I am writing to you as
I wait for their reply. Here's their website.
https://www.magellangps.com/users/registrationHelp.asp

Hope this helps!

Fine Digital FineDrive 400 GPS Receiver Problem

The company went bankrupt. I get a "unable to read map data error". Called for over a month, sent email after email. Finally contacted a company that fixes Finedrives and they told me the company (Fine Digital) is out of business and will not warranty the unit...ten months old at the time. The company who fixes these machines said that it would be cheaper to buy a new(different company) gps system compared to having them fix the Finedrive 400.

Lost power- will not come back on

If you have a multimeter you should be able to check the out voltage on the powersupply to make sure the power cable isn't at fault. You may also try wigling the power cord a little bit to see if the unit will then get power. If so you have a faulty powercord. If there are any fuses they should usually be accessible from the outside; that's the point with them - they should be easy to change. I would put my money on the power cable. If you have access to a diferent power source try that out. If the unit works with a different power source your power source is at fault. If it still doesn't work the problem is within your unit. Check to see if any pins on the power source and/or the units power plug might be bent or dirty.
