Brother 2130 shows toner ended but there are sufficient toner. What is the problem?

For HL Machines there is a reset process available if your new toner cartridge does not reset the toner counter.
DO NOT USE this process if you are just trying to get that little more out of your cartridge. The cartridge for the HL2130 does not have alot of toner in it to start with after all it is only rated to do 1000 pages at 5% coverage (Approximately 4 paragraphs on a page size 12 font no bolding or underlining). using this to reset your machine without a new cartridge WILL damage the machine.

  1. Switch the machine off
  2. Open Front Cover
  3. Hold the Go button while powering on the machine
  4. When Toner, Drum and Error LED's are lit release the Go button all LEDs will turn off
  5. Press the Go Button Two (2) times. The Toner, Drum and Error LEDs will turn on.
  6. Press the Go Button Six (6) times
  7. When the Error LED is flashing close the front of the machine.
  8. Switch the machine Off then back On to reset the machine.
Once it have accepted the new cartridge.
Press the go button Three (3) times in rapid succession and it will print out a test sheet. At the top of this sheet there is a line saying Cont. ROM VERSION : 1.xx the xx should be 13 or more. if it isn't then you need to update the firmware on your printer. Go to the Brother Website and find the Firmware update tool for your machine and download and install this to update the firmware. This MUST be done from a machine connected directly to the machine with a USB cable. It cannot be done over a network or wirelessly.

I change my dn 5350 drum but light still on

The Brother machine has separate consumables the toner cartridge and the drum unit. Verify you replace only the drum unit and not the toner cartridge

1.Press the front cover release button and then open the front cover.

2.Reset the drum counter: Press and hold down the Go button for about 4 seconds until all the LEDs light up. Once all four LEDs are lit, release the Go button.

Do not reset the drum counter when you only replace the toner cartridge

3.Take out the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly.

  • We recommend that you put the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly on a piece of disposable paper or cloth in case you accidentally spill or scatter toner.
  • To prevent damage to the printer from static electricity, DO NOT touch the electrodes shown in the illustration.

4.Push down the blue lock lever and take the toner cartridge out of the drum unit.

  • DO NOT put a toner cartridge into a fire. It could explode, resulting in injuries.
  • Use neutral detergents when cleaning the printer.
  • DO NOT use cleaning materials that contain ammonia, alcohol, any type of spray, or any type of flammable
substance to clean the outside or inside of the machine. Doing this may cause a fire or electrical shock.
  • Be careful not to inhale toner.
  • Handle the toner cartridge carefully. If toner scatters on your hands or clothes, wipe or wash it off with cold water at once.
  • To avoid print quality problems, DO NOT touch the shaded parts shown in the illustrations.
5.Unpack the new drum unit

Wait to unpack a drum unit until immediately before you put it in the printer. Exposure to direct sunlight or room light may damage the drum unit.

6.Put the toner cartridge firmly into the new drum unit until you hear it lock into place. If you put the cartridge in properly, the blue lock lever will lift automatically.

Make sure that you put in the toner cartridge properly, or it may separate from the drum unit.

7.Put the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly back in the printer.

8.Close the front cover.
9.Make sure that the Drum LED is now off.

Are you sure it was a full NEW toner cartridge?? Not an old one you had lying around.
If it was a new one the next question line goes as follows.... the machine will say in the display to "Rplace toner soon"...that dosn't mean its empty and to replace it..that means itsLOW and you should have a new toner cartridge "on-hand" because it will soon stop printing and say "REPLACE TONER". At that time the toner cartridge should be replaced, when it is installed a "fuse" on the cartridge blows and resets the toner light on the display. If you installed the toner cartridge when the display was saying "replace toner soon" you have blown the fuse in the new cartridge, now the machine has run about another 100 copies and says "replace toner"....but you now can't reset the light because the fuse is already blown because you may have replaced the cartridge too early!!! WHAT CAN YOU DO if that is the can replace the fuse on the cartridge..its pretty easy to see, just replace it with another mini-fuse of the same rating written on the existing fuse..then put the cartridge in again..the fuse will blow, reset the light and away you will go. When all else fails read the operators manual.

We bought a new cartridge for our AL-1631 copier. Up until the time we installed the new cartridge, we never had a problem with this copier. Now the copier indicator light is telling us that it needs a...

Sounds just like an empty cartridge. There is a bar with a long spring on it inside the toner cartridge. As the machine tries to add toner the bar "scrapes" the toner while stirring it in order to ensure all the toner is used. When the chamber is empty or near empty you can hear the spring making more or less a thump thump kind of noise about every 5 seconds or so. If this sounds like the noise you are hearing then it sounds like the toner chamber is empty. Did you buy this cartridge locally? If so you may be able to return it. Was it refilled? Remanufactured? or was it in a OEM Sharp Box with AL100TD or similar on the box? It sounds like either you got a bad/empty cartridge or the only onther possibility is, and I actually had a customer do this once, was accidentally put the old one back it the machine. Pulled the old one out. Unboxed the new one and somehow slid the old one back in. Worst thing was they threw the "new" cartridge away and by the time the light came on again it was long gone!
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

Sounds like you refilled or purchased a refilled cartridge and the toner reset flag wasn't reset in the process. Here's a link to the remanufacturing instructions for the cartridge. Page 4 addresses how to reset the flag on the side of the cartridge to make it reset your machine.

Hope that helps you. :)

CC and drum Icon will not go out after changing toner cartridge

This Machine needs a copy cartridge. Replacing the toner will not clear it. The copy cartridge is the drum unit which is why the drum light is on. With the new copy cartridge a chip on the cartridge will reset the counter and clear the "CC" and the drum light. If you cant find this I can send you one. I believe on this model it is user replaceable.

Flashing red light

On the alarm and data light blinking, it is saying the toner cartridge is empty. You will need to replace it. Once in a while you can remove the toner cartridge and shake it and have it work for a little while longer. This does not work all the time however.
If you can't get it to work by shaking it, you will need to purchase a new toner cartridge.

When you have the new cartridge, you will need to slide the blue corona wire cleaner back and forth. This is just in front of the toner cartridge in the drum unit on the top of the drum unit. There is a small light blue colored piece of plastic with an arrow in it that you will just push back and forth. This will help the drum unit do its job better.
