In what way is the screen broken? cracked, distorted picture, no picture but has sound?
If it is cracked. Replacement of screen is expensive. Cheaper to buy a new TV.
If Distorted. Parts linked to the screen can be the culprit. Most common part to fail is the T-con board. Main board may not be sending signal to the T-con board.
If its no picture but has sound. Back lighting has failed which could be several things that can cause that.
without any other details besides "broken" it will be hard for someone to help with diagnosing your problem. We need symptoms like. has sound but no picture. Picture has horizontal or vertical lines. part or half of the screen is black, black borders don't count. Hope the info here has, in some way, helped bring you closer to what to do with your TV.
No, a cracked screen, whatever the type, size or model of tv is terminal, unfixable. In a case of a plasma it's even worse - the crack allows the gases to escape which causes the voltages on the panel to spike, frying the Sustain boards. The tv's are dead, good for parts at the best - a new panel would cost as much as a new tv, plus the shipping.
IF the screen which is called a panel is broken, you are finished
Even if the panel (Plasma or LCD) IS available it will cost as much as the set did when new--not to mention most are sold exchange and if shattered or broken screen, you have no core for them to rebuild.
Some major stores now offer insurance for this when you buy the set but otherwise it is not worth fixing.
On a 1,000 dollar Plasma the panel will usually be 1,200 exchange not counting major labor to replace it.
I do not enjoy giving bad news to anyone but if the screen is shattered or cracked etc---you are finished with that set.
LCD sets are more fragile than Plasma but either can have this happen. I have seen LCD sets where a very small child slapped the screen and that was the end of the set.
If no one got hurt, a TV can be replaced but not a injury to someone.
If this told you something you did not know, rate this solution as I do this here for free.

HI, the best way to do this is to disassemble the set and post all the individual internal parts like the power board and main PCB logic and v boards, on line on a e-bay type of sale forum. this way, you can make more money. if you post the entire plasma screen with the crack as is, you will not get many hits. is will be assumed that it is damage goods.
Breaking this set down and, posting the internal circuitrypiece by piece will make you more money in this case. The power supply board will sale for at least 289.00. and the main logic(PCB) will sale for 300 to 350. i would go this route to maximizes your gain.
If there is definitely a cracked display then only solution is to replace the LCD panel- this is NOT for the novice having said that I was once a novice..I guess I still am:) the LCD panel as its quite expensive for joe ordinary to buy you may have luck locating a used one but be careful out there..its a minefield
I'm looking for a broken screen HP-S5053 to buy from someone. I have a new screen that needs a home. I need one that is complete and working other than the screen. Or I would sell my screen to you. Thanks, Wade email@example.com
