Problem acer m1610 watchen downloaded videos

Hi, im hoping someone can help me. When I watch a normal DVD in my dvd drive it plays 100 per cent and the screen is great on my 17`` GNR TFT Monitor.
The problem im having is when I download either a film or a video and then playback, it seems to glinche or momentary stop before going again, very annoying, can anyone help me??
I have been told that it could be the monitor or a graphics card might need installing in pci slot???
It has an intergrated SIS or something like that at the moment, I dont want to buy a new monitor if I dont need one
Any advice would be much apprciated, my acer m1610 is only 3 months old and monitor is 3 years old, thanks again

Are you using the DIVX Codec for watching these downloaded movies? Go into the configuration of the decoder, find the 'deblocking' setting and change it to "none".

Fix DVD/CD ROM to work Acer M1610, Computer not detecting DVD/CD ROM. No drive is seen how to fix this, what are my options. OS is Vista

Hi rossclark3,

Try to check the jumper settings of your DVD/CD ROM if it is properly assigned as Master or Slave.
Afterwards, also check the cable connecting the DVD/CD ROM to the motherboard.
Finally, restart your PC and check the BIOS Setup if it can already detect your DVD/CD ROM.

Hope this helps you a lot.

Thank you for using FixYa!

Normally, DVD Drives are plug and play and there are already native drivers (in built software inside the Operating System) installed on your Operating System, hence you do not need to install the driver for it anymore since it should work automatically, once it is connected to your computer.

You can try downloading the firmware for the said device on your computer manufacturer's website (DELL, HP, etc.)

Hope this helps.

Blessed michelle and was supposed to watch a documentary in my computer. as i enter the dvd the drive e dont have the files its like it cannot read the can i acces this now??thanks

Hi, Michelle.
I hope I can be of assistance today.

First, you need a dvd decoder program, that way the computer knows how to read a dvd, otherwise it will say that it id an unsupported format.
I would use VLC media player, it has all the codecs needed to play it built in to the program, that way you don't have to worry about any other software.
It's link is here:

The big download button is for all versions of windows, so it will work is you have xp, or Vista, or even windows 7.

Also, you can consider downloading a codec pack as well.
This may add some extra functionality and enhance quality over factory codecs, as well installs the codecs that windows doesn't come with.
Trust me, there are alot of codecs that windows doesn't come with.

The program for that is called K-Lite codec pack.

Here is the link for it as well:

Just scroll down the page to the first one that says "full"

Between these two programs, you should now be able to watch ANY movie, doesn't matter if it is a dvd, a downloaded video, a youtube video, a flash video, or any other kind.

I hope this helps you get your project done, good luck!

Need a Acer Aspire m1610 recovery disc

Go to and click on Support; put your model number in (and perhaps, serial number) and you will be able to order a DVD with all the software that was factory installed on your PC. It will cost somewhere over $100.

Alternatively, you can download Macrium Reflect - Free Version and install it. You must be connected to the Internet when you install to get the free license. Connect an external USB hard drive and Reflect will make you a disk image of all of your installed software as well as all of your word, picture, music and video files. If you have a computer or hard drive failure, you will be able to reload everything onto a new hard drive or computer. You can buy an external USB hard drive for about $85 and everyone should backup their hard drive anyway.

I can watch vcd but not dvd on my notebook.

Hi there.
If the lens was damaged it wouldn't read at all.
Its asking for a decoder, you have to buy these, they are programs like PowerDVD etc.
If you don't want to pay for a decoder then use VLC Player, this will play your DVD's as its universal.
Get it here >>>>>>>

Download it, install it, have fun!!!
