Solution sounds helpful, I just need to find someone in my area who will fix it at a price that would be worth it to me.

Try the steps below from HP:

1) First off, press the Setup button on your printer.
2) Now, press the down arrow button until Tools is highlighted and then press OK.
3) Again, Press the down arrow button until Clean Printhead is highlighted and then press OK; a test page should be printed.
4) Examine the test page; If the print quality of the page is good, stop here. If the print quality is bad, go on to the next step for cleaning the printhead further.
5) Open the Printer Toolbox. There are two ways to do this: > Open HP solution cetre Select the Settings menu, then the Print Settings submenu, and finally the Printer Toolbox,
or
> Open Printers and Faxes in the Windows Control Panel, then right-click your printer icon and choose Properties. Click Printing Preferences. Click the Features tab, then click the Printer Services button.
6) The Printer Toolbox opens; in the Device Services tab, click Clean the Printheads, then follow the on-screen instructions. Up to three levels of cleaning are available; discard or recycle the page that prints.
7) If cleaning the printheads once does not help, follow the directions in step 6, but use the next level of cleaning.

Ok try this , go into the device manager, start, control panel, system, hardware, device mgr, and look to see where the multi function device in question. Highlight it and click on uninstall. This will take that non working machine out of the loop it's in. When you restsrt it should locate the device and reinstall the software, you will see at the taskbar, it will say found new hardware, followed by installing the software for the new hardware. That is usually what will fix this type of hardware problem. If it works please rate accordinglly. good luck

An Ink system failure message and error code appears on the printer display.
Solution:
Step one: Reset the printer
Press the On button to turn off the printer.
Unplug the power cord and universal serial bus (USB) cable from the back of the printer.
Wait 30 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the printer.
Press the On button to turn the printer on.
If Ink system failure does not display, the issue is resolved; reconnect the USB cable and resume using the printer.
If the previous steps have not cleared the message, continue to the next step.

Step two: Download and install firmware update
Go to the product support page to download the update.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softw...

Click Software & driver downloads.

Click on the appropriate operating system link.

Click on the Recommended update to fix long power-on cycle and ink system failures link and follow the instructions to download the file.

After downloading is complete, disconnect all other USB devices from the PC. Make sure the product is powered ON and plugged into the USB port.

With the printer directly connected to the PC, click the downloaded file FirmwareEnable_Release.EXE.

Click Open/Run.

Click OK at the Update successful window. The error should have been cleared from the printer display.

If you get a message saying a device was not detected (see Figure 1), make sure the printer is powered ON and the USB cable is connected to both the printer and PC and try step five again.

You will need to replace the print head to get it working again. That error code refers to a damaged print head. I would bring this to a pc shop to be repaired it should be fairly cheap.

I have a Ink System Failure.

I had this same problem but with a different error code. Try doing:
1. Unplug the power cord from printer.
2. Hold both o.k and Cancel simultaneously.
3. Plug the power cable while holding the buttons.

After I did this my printer reconfigured like it used to do and it was like it was new again.... well new plus a headache a managed to get while reading all these little posts. I hope this helps!
