Orion hcca 250 digital reference positive wire getting hot

im not satisfied running the orion hcca 250 digital reference on stereo mode so i bridged it to increase the bass
using the orange wire as pos and black/yellow as neg

i then connected two orion xtreme 12" 500watt subs

a 600watt jensen amp powers two separates

orion separates at the rear and jbl separates at the front

powering the system is a 1farad lightning audio capacitor

the RED POSITIVE LINE of the orion hcca 250 amp is getting very hot

and the power it is giving to the two subs is not sufficient

the subs have no bass instead crackling sound is coming out

what is wrong with the system

tnx

    What size power wire do you have running to the HCCA? Being a Hign Current Comp Amp they need good steady power.

I have 2 jl-w6 subs n a orion hcca 250 amp how do i run wirering

Hello brianmitchel,

From what I am able to determine, the Orion HCCA250 is a bridgeable 2-channel amp that is stable to 1ohm when bridged and outputs 800 watts RMS into that load.

The JL W6's in both 10" and 12" versions are dual voice coil with 4ohm coils so they can be wired to present either an 8ohm load (series) or a 2ohm load (parallel). They can handle 600 watts RMS.

With this combination, the best configuration would be to wire the sub voice coils in parallel for a 2ohm load and then parallel both subs to the amp bridged terminals for a final impedance of 1ohm. The subs will each be getting 400 watts.

In any event, I would not recommend running subs in series. There is some evidence for distortion being caused by something termed "back EMF".

Hope this helps.

the speakers most not go lower than 2ohms.when the amp. is bridge you are connectin 2 channels.your speakers are most important,the impendence of it,in ohms e.g 4ohms or 8ohms.note make shore the amp.can go down to 2ohms when bridge,or connect the speakers in series.if you not shore.

Orion hcca 250

i can make this relatively simple.
2 stages:
Stage (1) wiring the Sub inside the box;
Unscrew the SUB from the Box, (& undo the wires)
Connect both +Positive terminals on the SUB to the +Positive terminal on the inside of your BOX.
Connect both -Negative terminals on the SUB to the -Negative terminal on the inside of your Box,
Then screw the SUB back into the Box.
u Have just wired yr sub in parallel. any Amplifier will see it as 1woofer with 1OHMs resistance.

Stage (2) bridging your amp
(please check Amplifier instructions on which terminals to use)
generally you use "LEFT -Negative" and
"Right +Positive"
and connect to the corresponding terminals on the Sub Box.
Hope that helps someone.

Old schoool orion amp 250-hcca

Wiring Codes for SX and HCCA
Orange = Right Positive
Black/Orange = Right Negative
Yellow = Left Positive
Black/Yellow = Left Negative
Blue = Remote Turn On

You can remove the bottom of the amp and the colors can be deciphered as to which goes to which pin in the plug. Go to this link on AmpGuts for a reference.
http://www.ampguts.realmofexcursion.com/Orion_HCCA250/

And here is a link where you can buy a new plug on ebay for $25.

Orion 250G4

Generally to bridge an amplifier you need to insert the positive wire from the sub to the positive wire on the first channel. And then insert the negative wire from the sub to the second channels's negative terminal.

Orion 275g4 Hcca amp

this actually could be your amp...try turning the gain down slowly and you will hear the bumping either stop or become morelike music background thanmusic foregroud. i had this problem with an older amplifier and i fixed it by getting a larder power/ground wire size and decreasing the gain a little.
