There is no on-off switch for the wireless on the dell inspiron 8200 if I recall correctly. Make sure:

1. The mini-PCI slot (might actually have to open the little door on the back of the laptop) contains a wireless card

or

2. right click on "my computer", properties, hardware tab... device manager. See if there are any devices listed (yellow "!") that do not have drivers installed. Go to http://support.dell.com and download drivers for your wireless card and install them.

You need to access the control panel of your router and chnage the radio channel it is using. Usually autmatic defaults to channel 6. Try different channels to see best result.
For info on your router ask back here. Need brand and model and version number.

I had to restore my dell inspirion E1505, and it says i have no wireless network, how do i turn this worless network back on?

Hi,
You need to check for the wireless switch located on your laptop. Once the wireless switch is on, you'll be able to see networks in range and you will be able to connect to your network wireless.
Good Luck!

What Wireless modem will work in Dell's Inspirion XPS M140

Hi,

I recommend Netgear or Linksys wireless routers/modems.

They work with just about any ISP (internet service provider) and are very reliable.

Regards.

Does the Dell Dimension 8200 have a radio button? I am trying to enable wireless network/internet. I have a LinkSys WRTG54S wireless router. I tried to install the setup program and it said I needed to...

You need to buy a separate wireless adapter. I recommend a Linsys Wireless G USB/ with speed boost adapter at this time.

Does anyone have the aircard for the dell 8200 laptop? And is it worth it to put one in.

According to Dell's spec sheet, the 8200 has internal Mini PCI Wi-Fi (802.11b) wireless support. You can check to see if it is installed in Device Manager. There are also 20 USB ports. Several companies sell good USB wireless adapters. Belkin, Linksys and Netgear to name a few. There should be readily available where ever computer accessories are sold.

As to is it worth it, that depends entirely on how beneficial a wireless connection would be for you.

I went wireless at home several years ago, first to learn the technology and secondly for the access. Now I use it nearly every evening from my living room. Definitely worth it for me.

Good luck, and please let me know how it works out for you.
