HP LJ 1200 chirps or squeeks

We have a HP LJ 1200 that has been used for at least 7 years, never been serviced.

It has just recently begun to make an annoying 'chirp' noise.

Does so when printing or when not printing (when toner door is closed)

what might need attention?

got it figured, it was the toner, moved it to a less used 1200.

To repair hp laser jet 1200

it is possible that the driver has been corrupted. and sometimes there is a bit of a trick to installing drivers on hps. that trick involves whether you plug in the usb cord and turn on the printer before or after you install the printer driver. you certainly have to make sure you have downloaded the compatible driver for your os.

here is a link to a service manual for one of these: http://www.laserpros.com/pdf/hp-lj-1200-manual-toc.pdf

there are a number of www.youtube.com videos that address fixing various problems with the printer. that is probably because it has been around long enough for a lot of user support to develop for this workhorse. if you simple google "repair hp laser jet 1200" and "youtube" you should get a heap of such.

CHIRPING NOISE FROM TOP BACK OF ENGINE IT APPEARS CAS SENSOR IS BAD

The camshaft position sensor and syncro are located on the back of the engine and will sqeek. The syncronizer sits in the engine and is run by the camshaft. the camshaft position sensor sits on top of the syncro and is held down by 2 7/32" screws. If you remove the camshaft position sensor from the top of the syncro and put about 3-5 drops of motor oil in the syncro you may fix your squeek. The syncronizer shaft that goes into the engine will dry out and loose its lubrication causing a squeek/chirp.
I have done this to a few vehicles and had great success.
Hope this helps

HP LJ P1008 can be used as network printer ?

I have one of theses D-Link PD-301U. It does NOT support a printer like yours. According to D-Link's Web site, here are the HP Laser printers it supports (note the P1008 is NOT in the list):

LaserJet
  • 1200
  • 1500 (USB 2.0)
  • 2200
  • 2200D

Tvalue 4 for windows will not print with a new printer

This is a work around as I have the same problem. If I change the default printer to something other then the HP printer, then select Page Setup, I can then select the HP without the program erroring out. You can even set the HP back to default and TValue will continue to work fine until you restart the computer.

    Wrong Port when printing

assuming you mean you are connecting to two separate parallel ports, then your bios settings may have not been set correctly(duplex operation - bidirectional data allowed) or your ports may have been moved by other added hardware, ie your bios may be poor at doing that especially if the parallel ports are on add in card. but since you gave us none of that information, i would try uninstalling both then just add the 1200 first on the first(other) LPT. see what it manages on the one that works on its own. if its ok which it should be then try adding the 1500 after see what happens to both then.
