Question about Kenmore 53642 / 53644 Side by Side Refrigerator
This refrigerator has a bottom freezer and there is a fan in the back of the freezer area that builds up ice and makes a noise that gets consistantly louder. We have to pull everything out and run a hair dryer over the back vent to thaw it out and then it is good for about 1 week when we have to repeat the process. Called Sears and their repairman basically said there is no fix for it. This refrigerator is only 3 years old. When it was first installed it was not cooling properly and the automatic ice maker just froze up. The repairman at the time said the thermometer probe was not pulled through the wall correctly and fixed that. Very unhappy that we spent over $1,000 and Sears is not standing behind this product.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

SOURCE: Water leaking into freezer
It may be the defrost thermostat. This thermostat turns on a heater in the freezer a couple of times a day and melts the ice in the freezer which should go into a tube that leads to a pan underneath the refrigerator, where it sits and evaporates from the heat of the compressor. It could also be the timer which tells the refrigeator to turn off a couple of times a day and tells the defrost thermostat to turn on.
