It's hard to help very much without knowing what kind of MP3 player it is but for starters you should: 1. Fully charge the device and then try plugging it in again 2. If that doesn't work try a different USB cable and/or different USB port on your computer. Some players also have a reset button you could try.
Try plugging it into a different usb port on the computer. If it does not work, try using a usb adapter to plug in to the usb port. It may also help if you restart the computer and connect it again. If this does not solve the problem, then the usb of the walkman mp3 player got fried which is due to improper disconnecting procedure of the mp3 from the computer; so make sure when removing any mp3 device, do a "safely remove" procedure.
If you mean that the songs don't show up on the computer screen, then you probably need to change the USB MODE setting on the Clip. To do this, disconnect the Clip from the computer, then scroll to SETTINGS. Select Settings, then scroll to USB Mode and select it.. (If your Clip is very old it might not have a USB Mode listed under SETTINGS. If this is the case you should update your Clip's Firmware from the sansa website). Older computers recognize the MSC Mode while newer ones should recognize either mode. (except XP Professional doesn't seem to recognize the MTP mode). Songs entered in one mode won't show up on the computer if you're in the other mode. If you mean that the songs aren't showing up on the Clip's own screen then this solution probably won't help. By the way, I've never had any luck with the "auto detect" mode.
What you need to do is to just connect the MP3 to your computer via USB port then wait for the computer to recognize the MP3 player then when its already recognize double click Mycomputer icon and you should see there the MP3 , just double click on it and copy and paste the MP3 songs that you like to put on it.........
I know this is only part of the solution: - turn off your sansa clip - put the slide button on hold - press the centered button while connecting the sansa clip to your pc the sansa clip will now be visible as a removable disk under 'my computer' :-)
