Question about Gaggia Evolution Espresso Machine

1 Answer

Gaggia evolution not producing coffee

Our Gaggia Evolution was working fine until recently. It produces steam and when the hot water switch(on right side) is pressed, plenty of hot water comes out so the pump is clearly pushing the water through.

However, despite cleaning - taking the showerhead off and cleaning that, then removing the showerhead holder and cleaning that - have not been able to produce anything through the shower head holder - without the showerhead itself - apart from a few drips. Pump can be heard and the water level goes down but nothing comes out the other end!

What to do? Or know of a good coffee maker repair place? I'm on the Central Coast of NSW.

I bought A Gaggia Baby Class D last year and now I can't get it to make a coffee. All I get from the shower head is steam. The pump is working fine. Would it need servicing?

I have exactly the same machine. I never had an issue like this with my previous esspresso machine (it was a Krups).

One question before I make any suggestions: If you remove the shower screen and screw, do you get a nice flow of water or is it still steam?
If you get a nice flow of water, then check your screen hold it up to the light and you should be able to see through the tiny holes, if not, get a pair of needle nose pliers and being very careful hold screen over an open flame like the stove burner. The coffee will burn before the anything happens to the metal. When it is cooled screw into group and see if the flow of water is better.
If you get nothing but steam then it is time to descale the machine.

I have the same symptoms, the screen is clean , there is hot water recycling back into the resivoir but not through the shower head either with nor without the screen in place. The pump is nearly new and there is very little scale evident

My Gaggia Evolution has a water leak between the brass steam valve and top of cast alloy boiler. Where can I get a new rubber seal to fit this?

The easiest place for this is either or wholelattelove, they have a good supply of parts on hand or find your nearest gaggia dealer and get the part from them.

How do i decalcifie my evolution espresso machine? my machine isnt producing any coffee. i have some decalcifier liquid but i'm not sure how to use it

The usual way is to put the solution into the tank at the required strentgh (usually on the packet/bottle) and run it through the machine as if you were making espresso. Once all the solution has gone through run three more tanks of fresh water through to clean it out.

Machine Does not draw water into the boiler

I have had this same problem - it is due to an airlock in the boiler/tubes. Simple solution is to use a syringe or similar and gently force some water up the intake hose from the tank, then try the pump again.
