Question about Acer Aspire 5570-2758 Notebook

1 Answer

Won't scroll to top of page. Stuck at the bottom! Fixed momentarily by pressing scroll lock key or F7 key, but goes back to the bottom seconds later. (I also have issues with the F7 key, and the touchpad not working). My son uses the computer for games sometime, in case that helps. Thank you!

Thanks, Tim, but there's no ! in device manager. Actually, the computer is working ok now. (This is a frequent, random problem).

In your Start menu search type Device Manager. Open Device Manager, and is there anything in there showing up with a ? I'm thinking you may have a driver conflict with your touchpad.

It sounds like your scroll lock key is stuck on. Press the Function key and the scroll lock key at the same time and this sound turn off the permanent scroll lock.

The screen is really dark

Locate the Fn (Function) key on your keyboard. It may be on the bottom left side with dark blue letters. Locate the two "brightness" keys near the top of the keyboard. These will be in the "F" keys, possibly if F6 and F7. They should have little sun pictures or something similar to indicate brightness. Hold down the Fn key while pressing F7, or whichever "F" key your laptop uses to increase brightness. Tap F7 repeatedly until you reach the desired brightness. Fn must be held down as you continue to tap. Hope this helps.

My asus x59gl screen won't switch on, I can hear

Try holding in the function key (very bottom left key labeled Fn) and pressing F7. If that doesn't turn the screen back on, hold it again and slowly press F8 a few times. That should turn the screen back on if it was accidentally set to a different monitor, which seems to happen randomly on laptops.
If you can see a very faint image when its held at just the right angle, then you probably burned out the back-light.
Keep in mind, if you bought it in the last year, it is still under manufacturer warranty.

My mouse and think pad do not work

There are 2 possible answers to this common issue, the first is that the aspire has a mouse lock. check your keyboard on the function buttons for a picture of a mouse with a line though it, hit function and at the same time press the mouse with the line through it and if its locked off this will turn if back on. The second answer is driver issues, if the first suggestion dont work I would go to the Acer website click on downloads and drivers and enter your model number. Then download and install your think-pad and mouse pad drivers and install.

I can not turn my mouse pad back on after it turned its self off Toshiba L20-267

Hi

in most cases if you press the FN+F7 keys together and leave for a couple of seconds then hopefully it will enable the mouse pad

just have a look at the top row of keys to find a key that has a picture like a hand on it
then press that key with the FN key

also some laptops has a lock right beside the mouse pad itself which will enable or disable the mousepad

good luck

if all else fails go to device manager
scroll down to pointing devices
un install it
then restart ther laptop
and windows should re install the driver on startup
hopefully this will correct the problem

hope this will help you

The mouse seems to be locked

Hi
please take a look at your top row of keys on the keyboard
usually there is one normally the F7 key with a picture of a finger and hand on it
sometimes it is the F9 key

these keys normally enable/disable the mouse/touchpad

try pressing the key leaving a few seconds before it works
and sometimes you have to press FN+F7 for it to work

hope this will help you

The scroll of my touchpad is not working

Try pressing, and holding the Fn button ( should be next to ctrl on bottom left hand side of keyboard) while still holding this button press the function key that looks like a finger pointing to a square. (located at top of keyboard mine is labeled F7, yours could be a different F key but will still be on top. After doing this try using the touch pad this should work.

On my toshiba mini laptop the cursor gets stuck in a page up and down mode - just goes up and down but won't move right or left. I may have hit some key, but how do I get out of it?

Hi,

You have Scroll Lock on.

Look at the top of the keyboard for a key which says "Scr Lock" on it and press that key.

the Scroll lock will then be removed allowing you to use the mouse cursor properly.

Regards.

How to get rid of numberlock in ibm thinkpad t30

Hi Ritadeng,

On the Thinkpad T30, the number lock key can be turned on or off by pressing the shift-key and the scroll-lock key. The scroll lock button is found at the top of the keyboard between the PrtSc button and the Pause button.

You should see the light with the arrow and the number 1 inside (just above the F7 key) turn on and off when you press this.

Hope this helps!
