Hi,
The problem, could be that windows vista may not be supported on the motherboard you have. You would have to update the BIOS.
You can visit the floowing website. Select your machine and download the install the latest BIOS
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-40672.html

Thanks

Installing XP = BSOD

Hello

Without the actual info from the BSOD, we have to provide general troubleshooting tips.

Since Windows is not yet loaded, it cannot be a driver or software issue - so we need to look at the hardware.

Typically, a faulty or unrecognized RAM stick and / or an unusual BIOS setting can cause this issue.

Go into the BIOS and reset the BIOS to factory defaults, remove all CPU overclocking.

Remove all RAM and try booting with only 1 stick installed.

If this does not work, try and give the error message from the BSOD and we can look into it for you.

Mother board is ak77 pro 133 vt8233 will not run xp proI

Hi,
The BSOD (blue screen of death) usually means that a computer component has failed. This could be a hard disc drive, a memory module, the cpu, or the motherboard. I would start by checking out the hard drive first. See if it is spinning and not making any clicking sounds. Try replacing it if you have another one. Then check memory and cpu. Some people actually like having an old computer hanging around. They install Windows 98 in it so they can play old dos games and games that don't require a blazing fast processor! Good luck...Hank

MSI RS482M4 Mobo not recognizes USB port on XP SP2-3 boot.

Try to find application that load the CPU at 100% by seeing TASKMANAGER.

To start TASKMANAGER press CTRL+ALT+DEL on the keyboard, select PROCESSES TAB, click on CPU to order by CPU load and find process that come near to 100%.

Hi i have tryed to flash bios on acer aspire L3600 and it crashed. how can i fix this? thanks alot

Hi,

This issue may occur if the Boot.ini file is missing, damaged, or contains incorrect entries.

To resolve this issue, start the computer from the Windows XP CD , start the Recovery Console, and then use the Bootcfg.exe tool to rebuild the Boot.ini file. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Configure the computer to start from the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive. For information about how to do this, see your computer documentation, or contact your computer manufacturer.
2. Insert the Windows XP CD-ROM into your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive, and then restart your computer.
3. When you receive the "Press any key to boot from CD" message, press a key to start your computer from the Windows XP CD-ROM.
4. When you receive the "Welcome to Setup" message, press R to start the Recovery Console.
5. If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot computer, select the installation that you have to use from the Recovery Console.
6. When you are prompted, type the administrator password, and then press ENTER.
7. At the command prompt, type bootcfg /list, and then press ENTER. The entries in your current Boot.ini file appear on the screen.
8. At the command prompt, type bootcfg /rebuild, and then press ENTER. This command scans the hard disks of the computer for Windows XP, Microsoft Windows 2000, or Microsoft Windows NT installations, and then displays the results. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to add the Windows installations to the Boot.ini file. For example, follow these steps to add a Windows XP installation to the Boot.ini file:
1. When you receive a message that is similar to the following message, press Y:
Total Identified Windows Installs: 1

[1] C:\Windows
Add installation to boot list? (Yes/No/All)
2. You receive a message that is similar to the following message:
Enter Load Identifier
This is the name of the operating system. When you receive this message, type the name of your operating system, and then press ENTER. This is either Microsoft Windows XP Professional or Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition.
3. You receive a message that is similar to the following:
Enter OS Load options
When you receive this message, type /fastdetect, and then press ENTER.

Note The instructions that appear on your screen may be different, depending on the configuration of your computer.
9. Type exit, and then press ENTER to quit Recovery Console. Your computer restarts, and the updated boot list appears when you receive the "Please select the operating system to start" message. Let me know, if need further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

IBM PC Netvista, looks like motherboard problem

Hi,

I am Harender Singh frm Delhi, I am giving a suggestion for ur problem & I am suret that u will get rid of this problem......

First thing: Unplugged all the cables frm the CPU....

Second thing: Unscrew the CPU and take out the processor frm the board, clean it with IP (IsoProfile, its come in liquid form ), wash wtih it & if u don't have IP u can just clean it with the help of a brush, because of carbon deposited on the pin of the CPU..after that reinstall it and plugged all the cable....

I am sure that ur problem will be solved.

Thanks.....
