Why is that though? My Zenith 32inch flat screen didnt need the composite cables, is LCD built different?

  • abyssphoenix Feb 27, 2009

My old Zenith tv could though, is the LCD mad differently or something that it cant?

  • abyssphoenix Feb 27, 2009

I have a coax attached to the tv from the vcr because it plays cable but not video, I didnt have a composite attached to my old tv so I know it played vcr somehow. I have the coax running from the VCR/DVD to the tv and the one from the cable box into the vcr.

Ok so i got it to work! Here's what I did: I switched the cables to a screw type one I had which makes it more of a pain to get on but I think makes the signal better, then I switched the TV into normal TV mode from the input screen and wham the vhs was playing! Thanks for your help!

Yes, that is correct you need composite (or coax) cabling to your TV. The unit cannot carry the VHS signal via component video or digital audio cabling

The TV will make no difference at all. The VCR video can only be carried by:

    1. Coax cable such as that which supplies the TV signal to the Ant In connector (from OUT TO TV)
    2. Composite video (Yellow RCA type connector)

The DVD signal can be carried by both of the above as well as:

    3. S-Video (round multi pin connector difficult to line up and insert)
    4. Component (triple strand with RCA type connector one is Red the next is Green and the last is Blue [RGB])
    5. The latest and greatest is called HDMI (High Definition Media Interface)

    I hope this helps

If that is so then the Coax should carry the VCR signal to the TV. Have we just come full circle? :-)

Your VCR with a coax cable should be able to be seen on Channel 3. The question then becomes, can you?

Most likely either the main board (processes all signal) or even an issue with the power board (supplies wrong voltage somewhere).

In either case not cheap.

My Insignia NS-WBRDVD2 will not play the HD DVD-s...why

This Blu-ray player will not read HD (high density) DVDs. The format is not the same as a blu-ray. You would need an HD DVD player. (if you can find one - they are rare.) If you are having trouble reading specific Blu-ray discs, you should check if there is a firmware update for the unit on the Insignia site. Start at http://insigniaproducts.com/ and look for downloads for the NS-WBRDVD2.

The NS-WBRDVD2 reads Blu-rays, DVD-ROM, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-R, DVD+R, CD-R, CDDA (audio CDs), CD-RW, MP3, MPEG4, JPEG. Discs burned on DVD recorders/computers must be finalized to be played on the unit.

The manual for the unit is available from Insignia here: http://insigniaproducts.com/cms/documents/NS-WBRDVD2-WBRDVD2-CA_10-0745_WEB_ENG_V4_Final%20lr.pdf .

I hope this helps.
