The players starts playing and then says file error
There are songs on my player, but when I push play the songs start playing and then it says file error. When I plug it up to my computer there are no files showing on the device. Is there a way to remove the songs and start over?
Re: The players starts playing and then says file error
If this is a USB MP3 player and you have unwanted songs on it, you might try plugging it into your computer and formatting it like a portable hard drive. This should reset everything back to a factory default and then the computer and the MP3 player should get along better. Good Luck

MP3 players can only play music files in mp3 file format. You can download mp3 music files from the Internet to your computer and then copy them to your MP3 player using the USB cable. For your CD collection, you need to convert your CDs to mp3 music files onto your computer or download them from the Internet and then copy them to your MP3 player after you have connected the USB cable to the MP3 player and the computer. You can do this using Windows Media player and Rip the CDs - Media Player will create a MP3 music file for each music track. The problem is that your MP3 player has selected INTRO. This will play an introduction of every song in your folder. To FIX this simply
1. Play a Song
2. Press MODE (button on the left bottom side)
3. Select PLAY MODE
4. Select NORMAL
I had this same problem when I first got mine, I really freaked but a couple hours of fiddling around brought me a solution. Hope this helped.
It's an unsupported file format. Are you trying to play files that were ripped in I-tunes? I-tunes does not make mp3s, it makes m4a files, which are not supported. Make sure the files you put on this player are mp3 files. You can also use wma files, but you will probably need to use Windows Media Player to transfer those files.

What's the music format of the songs that you placed on your mp3 player? Some MP3 Players only capable of playing song files with .mp3 extension and are incapable of playing other music format like wav, wma, etc. Check also the contents of the player for corrupted files and foreign files. Some viruses from a computer could affect the performance of your mp3 player.
I had this problem also and I think I figured it out because now my music will play. I took the songs I had from limewire, highlighted them all and clicked "save as", opened it with windows media player and on wmp I took my playlist and named it on there....first I synched the songs under "sync" and they would upload on my player but they would NOT play. I got the same stupid error message. So after they were uploaded onto my mp3 player, i dragged all of the songs onto the right side to make a sync list AGAIN and clicked start sync, all of the files said "already on device" so I kind of got mad thinking it still didn't work...when I unplugged it and tried to play the song, they ACTUALLY PLAYED. I fought with this for so long and contemplated about throwing the stupid thing down the toilet but for whatever reason, synching it in two different ways in that order, it worked and it stopped saying "error:can't open this file"...hope this works for you and anyone else having this problem because I know how frustrating this got for me. hope this helps. Good luck!!!
