    hello mam

you should defrost when the ice is fully packed, unless there is no ice please dont press the defrost because this stops the rrefrigerator to maintain the temperature.

I did the same thing. I know it's a little late now but for anyone that does this again here's what to do. There's a thermostat in your actual freezer you might not be able to see it, because it might be covered in ice. It looks like a tiny tube, To stop the defrosting all you have to do is warm up the thermostat either pressing a hot towel agaisnt it or meltling the ice with a dryer (but be careful)! After a minute or so the red button should pop out again and the refrigerator will start humming again. Unplugging the refrigerator will not reset anything and don't try to pop the red button out of your own!

How can I reset digital temp. on freezer outside door correctly?

Usually changing temps will not cause a fridge to stop cooling. But, most fridges have a showroom mode and I suspect it was accidental entered. Look on user interface for on/off and then press and hold. Good luck!

Hiw di I set the temp to the correct temp

turn freezer to mid point and try fridge on 3.5 as a starting point.
Keep the refrigerator temperature at or below 40° F (4° C). Thefreezer temperature should be 0° F (-18° C). Check temperatures periodically. Appliance thermometers are the best way of knowing these temperatures and are generally inexpensive.

Liebherr c5056 defrosts without warning. But rebooting fixes it!,

The defrost cycles on some fridges are random at best. Some models use a timer which may be set for every six hours or so fir 20 minutes but others may use an sensor to determine when the defrost cycle will start and end. Unless you are losing any product I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you are loosing product then I would invest in a new defrost timer

The temperature for the fridge and freezer will not stay constant. Why?

I would think first of the defrost termination thermostat malfunctioning.
This would vary the defrost time since it regulates the defrost time by temperature.
This is the most common failure in fridges next to start relays.
It is a two wire item in the freezer section which is clipped onto a tube. It senses
line temperature and turns off the defrost element when that temp is reached.
Should be located in the freezer section behind the back panel. Model and serial
number should be inside the refrigerator compartment, Part should be available
at an appliance parts store. Hope this helps.

Hi, I have a small magic chef refrigerator and I accidentally hit the red button in the center of the temperature control dial. I don't want it to defrost. How can I get it to start cooling again?

Find the temp sensor END and use a hair drier to heat it up. That is the only way you will get the red buton to pop back out so you can re-start the compressor. There is not other way until the temp probe senses ambient air temps above 35 F.

GE monogram side by side maybe 10 to 15 years old .fridge side works fine freezer side works fine for a few days and then turns hot and defrost tray over flows .do you think it sounds like a defrost timer...

Hi,
I don't think it is the timer.
I think that the hole that the water normally runs down is either plugged with dirt or ice. Typically they plug with ice. Then the defrost cycle never thaws that ice out and you have a flood on every defrost cycle.

Take a piece of copper wire like 12 or 14 gauge house wire and wrap it arond the defrost coil, with the end of it in the hole. Then on every defrost it will transfer a bit of heat in the hole and melt the ice out.

Make sure that you unplug your fridge before attempting to wrap the wire, don't want no accidental electrocutions...

I hope that this will help you to solve your problem!

Whats the push in button in the center of temp. conrtol knob, on the dorm size model?

On this model, the push button in the center of the temperature control is for starting a manual defrost cycle.

If you see ice building up on the evaporator (the freezer section), you just push the button and the fridge will stop the cooling cycle and initiate a defrost cycle to melt the ice.

The unit will automatically start cooling after the pre-determined defrost cycle time has elapsed.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

I have to keep the temperature turned up to 9 in order to keep the food at 45 degrees. The fridge is only 3 years old.

If it's the freezer control you keep at 9, it's probably a defrost problem. If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.
check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

You can turn the defrost timer till it clicks and everything shuts down. The heater should now come on. If it does, replace the timer. If it doesn't, check the heater and defrost thermostat. Turn the timer again till everything starts back up to end the defrost cycle.

If it's the fridge temp control you're talking about The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp ..

Pressed a button, now fridge won't work

you have pressed the defrost button that is why the compressor stops and would not come back on. there could be a temperature sensor on the thermostat or a timer where in it would only reset back after the temperature of the fridge warms up. try to remove all the food and let is sit for a while, plugged and watch if the compressor would kick in after about two hours or untill the fridge warms up. if the button is stuck, you may have to spray lubricant in the thermostat or replace the thermostat .

Atlas frost refrigerator

Push in the red "Defrost Button" located in the center of the temperature control dial. Defrost cycle will start immediately. NOTE: Turning the temperature control dial to the OFF position is not required. Defrosting usually takes a few hours. When defrosting is complete, the red "Defrost Button" will release automatically. Then the refrigerator will resume normal operation while moving towards the set temperature. NOTE: After defrosting, allow a few hours to reach the set temperature before making any further adjustments.
