Question about Mitsubishi VS-50609 50" Rear Projection Television
3 year old Sony KDS R50XBR1. 6 months ago optical block replaced. Now suddenly, no picture, no sound, nothing. When turned on, green power light flashes for 1 1/2 minutes twice a second then turns red. It then flashes continuously once a second. No pauses, no pattern, no code just continuous flashes until the remote power key is pressed. Then it goes back to green and if pressed again, power goes off. What do I do.

After 11 years???? OMG This set is a tired pup and should be put to reast. My experience with older sets and your complains are all capacitor problems and is only gonna get worse as the first time around repair will take several capacitors to repair. This set has no user serviceable parts inside so you should not attempt a repair suchj as this on your own.. This repair if you decide to go through the first time will be About 300 to 600 bucks the first time and cost will continue to raise till the sets put to sleep. Good luck

on the signal board replace the caps by the 5/9 volt regulators. c2p04 is the main culprit. 6 caps in total can be changed. I believe c2p05 also.

The blinking green light is the DM unit in the set booting up like a computer.
Several things can happen here--Research by model number with GOOGLE, model number and problems.
It is often called the blinking green light of death.
The most common problem is 4 filter caps in power supply (they run 7/24 and supply voltage to DM unit fail--also some fuses there.
If you look on the net you will find places that sell kit for this repair.
This is also one of a group of several Mitsubishi sets with this kind of problem--It is not the Lamp!
Some of these models develop so many problems Mitsubishi now sells a chassis replacement--includes power and several boards that develop bad caps.
Understand: Mitsubishi has a long history of caps failing in their sets, it goes back almost 30 years. I have seen older ones where over 20 filter caps were bad.
You can talk to Mitsubishi to see if chassis replacement is available for your set--this came about as a result of the threat of hundreds of people entering a class action lawsuit (several).
If this told you something you did not know rate this solution as very helpful as I do this here for free.
If you have questions make a "comment" here and I will assist you.
